Hi Peter,

No, it was not me (mentionning a too fast play at 48khz)... Or are you talking about these ?

http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1769.0

Anyway, ok I will send the 2 songs as requested. Could be as you indcate a possible incapacity for either the DAC or the Audiophilleo to switch fast enough ?

I have done a few tests...

KS:
With upsample = 24/96 (to 24/192) and 16/44.1 (to 24/176.4) = faster.
Without upsample = this time the second song really is stuck at 96khz since it is way too fast.

WASAPI:
With or without upsample: same results, but different from KS.
e.g. a window appears with the following message with the title "Fail!": "Communication error with Endpoint device". If I close this window, the second song (the 16/44.1) starts but is faster than usual. Sounds like 48khz...

Invert order:
WASAPI:
No upsampling: Same Error Window, but when I press Ok, the 96khz song plays like 44.1...
With upsampling: Same Error Window, but when I press Ok, no sound.

KS:
No upsampling: the 96khz plays this time at 44.1...
With upsampling: the 96khz song, instead of playing at 192khz, plays at 176.4...

Well, that's it for me Wink

Regards,

Alain

1037  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Incorrect speed when changing format wih 9z-7-2 on: September 03, 2012, 06:37:28 pm
I have witnessed a wrong speed as a song at 16/44 played immediately after one that was 24/96... The 16/44 was too fast. I immediately replayed the 16/44 song alone and that time it worked at the right speed.

I guess I should not allow format change - meaning no mix between different format ? Or is it a matter of multiples (one is a multiple of 48khz, aka 96) ?

I forgot to say that all works fine with RDC and I like it a lot more than with ThightVnc ! Happy

Well... I used to work through a product like ThightVnc before and all was well. Since I have entered the wonderful world of this last version (I'll never say "Thanks" enough for this), the bluetooth way brings a whole new dimension to my learning. As I discovered, I need to do differents steps if (for example) I want to "Restart" the PC while using bluetooth. The choices are not the same. I am still trying (at my own pace) to understand how different accessing the PC through bluetooth rules is, but like I said, it is not that important. I was simply curious... Happy

1041  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Wasapi on: September 03, 2012, 02:57:11 pm
Hi Peter,

I know that there are not many that use wasapi anymore around, but through the bluetooth process, maybe there is something I do not do right, because I can't select it.

My only choices are: "main audio", "distant computer peripheral" and of course "KS...".

I can't select "main audio" - each time, it defaults to the "Distant computer peripheral". Engine #3 shows, but if I press Play, a small window appears with "INVALIDARG"...

Is there a way to reestablish the wasapi option ? Not that it is really important...

Alain

Aaaarg I should have known better... Of course it's true that SP1 will create a restore point. My apologies... I have been fooled by the fact that it identifies the restore point with something like "SP1" (don't have the correct title), but it could write insted "Pre SP1" or something alike... Well...

Hi Coen,

Unless I am totally out of line, when someone updates to SP1, the prior restore points disappear... At least this is what has happened to me after going up to SP1...

Just in case...

Regards,

Alain

PS: Maybe this happened to me because I downloaded the SP1 pack ? I can't say, but it really erased all my previous restore points...

Hi Alain,

I am not sure what you mean is better between a KVM extender and a Bluetooth setup ?

Did I express myself about this ? I don't know that ...
What I did say though is that the real KVM setup (so, not only a bunch of simple cables) will not be for the better. That's all.
(if you like, compare it with your Adnaco trial; this fails for similar reasons (but I must work on that further)).

Regards,
Peter
Hi Peter,

Adnaco was not a good experience. Lots of spikes in the CPU performance monitor and a sound that was congested...

Alain

Peter,

I am not sure what you mean is better between a KVM extender and a Bluetooth setup ?

I have managed to have Bluetooth work and I even put things further by using unattended (that I did not really use before).

All works fine ! The music that was already extremely good is even better Happy

1046  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Can't uncompress the dongles setup zip file on: August 31, 2012, 06:05:34 pm
I have created a new one (this time a RAR, while the other one was a zip). So :

The other one ends at _7.zip
replace that for the new one with _7a.rar
and download it.

PS: There is no "direct link" to elsewhere.

Thanks Peter, all is well installed. Now the fun begins - make them communicate + RDC Wink

Hi Bert,

By "direct link", do you mean the one sent by Peter, or one located somewhere else (if so, can you indicate me the link ?) ?

Thanks.

I know (about the only one complaining)... I tried with the std Windows 7 utility (through context menu), then with "The Extractor", then "7zip")... Retried with each of them after downloading 2 more times... It is the first time it happens (with W7, SP1)... I will try it with my laptop just to check if it is a problem with my "all purpose" PC or...

Hi Peter,

If we compare 2 disks of the same capacity with 2 different rotational speeds (example: 5400 vs 10000), would it be ok to assume that the density of the information is almost reduced by 2 for the faster drive OR are the heads geared to read/write twice as fast ?
