Title: XX On Screen Keyboard Design
Post by: Stanray on January 07, 2017, 10:24:30 am
Hi Peter,

Since using the XX On Screen Keyboard (XXOSK.exe) on my iPad for controlling XXHighEnd, I'm wondering if the texts on the buttons can be the function itself.

So, in stead of "ALT-U" the button could display "Volume Up" or "^"  and so on for the other functions.

I understand the texts corresponds with the keyboard combinations to push on a normal keyboard, but they don't necessarily have to be the same on the On Screen Keyboard. Or do I miss another reason for the current design?

On my tablet I only display the OSK, since I don't display Wallpaper (better SQ), so there's plenty of room for buttons with texts that show the real function.

Of course the current design works fine and after a while you remember most codes, but it could be more elegant, I think.  :secret:

Regards,
Stanley

Hi Stanley,

People normally use Coverart, so I never made a version which anticipates no Wallpaper Coverart. But otherwise :

That I maybe have better things to do ? haha

Yes, I definitely also think that a dedicated mobile phone/tablet user interface should be developed! There are several reasons for that IMHO. RDC works so well and easily so I tipically expect audio pc to be connected to a wifi router.
With your phone/tablet you can control your music from listening position, without the need to install a full pc setup there... not pratical and elegant at all! Very low WAF.
Also there are good commercial motivations. XXhe isn't much user friendly; a sleek, simple and clean UI for mobile devices could change that! And be much more attractive for a - much - broader range of audiophiles.
I'd could be a good idea for the new XX DAC. Think about reviews with a couple of pictures of a mobile phone with such a graphic UI.

What do others XXhe users think about this matter?

To be clear, I was only referring to the texts on the XX On Screen Keybord.

For me XX HighEnd on AudioPC supported by MusicServerPC works just fine.

Hello Stanley. Yes, that was clear to me. I only went a bit further ;-)
