Title: 0.9z-2 does not start
Post by: arvind on August 04, 2010, 02:59:42 pm
Hi Peter,

Today I downloaded 0.9z-2 for the first time. When opening it I get a window saying "XX Highend has stopped working". So I went back to 0.9z-1 & surprisingly I am getting the same message. I really dont know where I have gone wrong!!

Hi Arvind ... it must be me, I'm sure. Please look here : Re: cannot run as administrator anymore (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1334.msg12264#msg12264);
If you still have the 0.9z-1 folder "untouched", uninregister (regsvr32 /u) those .OCX files, and if it then doesn't work, uninstall Phasure and run the setup.exe from your 0.9z-2 folder.

If it at some stage starts to work, please tell me where, because current;y I don't know myself. But it must be related to thos OCX files.

I hope you get it done !
Peter

Hi Peter,

I did too many things so I cant recollect if the 0.9z-1 is untouched. probably not. I uninstalled the Phasure OCX file from the Control Panel & tried to setup.exe from the 0.9z-2 folder but it gives the same message. Should I go about as a new starter with 0.9z-2, following the installation guide. Will this work?

Arvind,

I am sorry for the misunderstanding, but with "untouched" I meant that maybe you still have the 0.9z-1 folder, so all you have to do is unregister (!!) those OCXes in there. If you don't have the folder anymore, you must recreate it with the exact same name, and put the OCXes in there. In either case it is about the unregistering from the exact same place where they were registered (which happened under the hood at installing 0.9z-1). Please follow the link I gave you, and do what I describe in there.

Again, sorry for your troubles ... it is my fault.

Actually, it must be different somehow ...

I just looked, but the install of the OCXes (implied by setup.exe which is auto-executed), was already there with 0.9z-1; I thought it was 0.9z-2.

This makes me confused, because now I can't see what can be going wrong at installing 0.9z-2. Still though it will be related to the OCXes, but the unregistering of those two files must be done in a folder which ever was meant for 0.9z. So, if you still have it you can go there and perform the regsvr32/u in there (for both the OCX files), and if you don't have it anymore, recreate it with the exact same name as before, put the OCXes in there, and then unregister them. But, still look in that link I gave you please, where the sequence of things to do is denoted.

Oh boy ... I hope we'll be allright on this one ...

Hi Peter,

I just played it safe & downloaded 0.9z & 0.9z-1 again & got 0.9z-1 playing again. I am not venturing to download 0.9z-2 for the time being.Hope 0.9z-3 will have a simpler solution.

Ah, good. Well, good by itself for you !

But ... I still don't know what actually causes this. So, I am sure you are happy enough to let it rest, but without knowing what actually causes it I don't know what to solve.

Did you ever try to "unregister" anything ?

I also have the same problem when trying XXHE. The only solution that sort of worked was to register the OCX files (but not unregister after. Unregistering after did not work.), but then I got numerous .NET Framework errors.

I finally decided to just run w/o Administrator rights and concentrate on learning to use XXHE settings first.

Hi Peter,

Since I wasnt sure how to go about doing the registration & consequently unregistration, I just havent delved into it. But I intend to get some help & try out 0.9z-2 again. Hopefully soon.

@Arvind: The procedure you should do is:

Quote
In the 0.9z version, there are two .OCX files;
What happens if you put these in your current XX folder ?

Possibly nothing much ...

But if you have found these two files anyway, please try to recall what your XX folder was named when you installed 0.9z for the first time, and perform this (in this sequence !) :

- Uninstall Phasure
- Create that folder I was talking about again, and put those .OCX files in it.
- Next register them with regsvr32 [name].ocx
- Now Unregister them with regsvr32/u [name].ocx
- Start XX again (the version you downloaded from this topic)

It is a kind of long shot, but at least we tried ...

I had the same Problem and this helped but I didn't unregister the files! The folder that should be created is the folder where you installed 9z the first time. You copy your ocx files there and do the registring. I also copied 9z2 into the same folder.
