BTW, I have just tried 0.9-z2 and it works fine...
2  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9-z3 crahses under XP on: October 27, 2010, 02:37:47 pm
The program starts. Then I push Play, and nothing happens, ītil I receive the following message (Iīm translating):

"xxengine has detected a problem and must shut down..." etc.

Some seconds later another window opens that says:
"Fail!
Engine 4 did not start within the expected time!"

The fact is, the program is still open after all this, and I even can edit the settings or choose tracks. But every time a try to Play, the above happens.

Well, I have upgraded from Z1, and now the program crashes and no sound is produced. I am running Windows XP.

4  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Different Q1 necessary with or without upsampling on: March 02, 2010, 11:14:31 am
Hello Peter,

I am being able to work with adaptative mode now. But I have noticed the following: If (according to your recomendations) I set Q1 at 0 and begin selecting buffer size, the smaller buffer size I can reach is 256. On lower buffer sizes I get the message: (Communication with End device failure). Then I set Q1 value to 1. All is fine... but now I discover that I can lower again the buffer size, up to 96 with no glitches or error message! Is this normal?

5  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: DAC-Magic not playing in 0.9y-6 on: February 24, 2010, 12:08:54 pm
Sorry for the late answer:

After various tries, I have found that normal mode does indeed work with the new version. The problem is special mode: if I try it, it doesnīt work and then not even normal mode works unless I reboot the PC. The fact is that, once I try special mode, the computer becomes unstable, even with HighEnd closed, making clicking noises once in a while, so I have to reboot.

Is there a way that I can make Special mode to work in my PC?

What is the recomended setting of Q1 when in Normal mode?

Thanks,

Joaquin

Well, after the success of 0.9y5-06, now with 09.y6 I have to report that I am getting no sound through USB to my DAC-Magic. The program reports a failure.

I have checked the SPDIF connection as well (I usually avoid it as it goes through my SoundMax sound card that forces resampling to 48k), and the sound is just horrible noise-glitches.

 unhappy

Yes, it works now!

Thanks. Now letīs enjoy the sound!  Happy

No, my OS is XP, not Vista. I get sound with 0.9y4 and previous versions, using Engine 1 or Engine 2.
"Dac Needs" is enforced (greyed) to the the option "DAC is 16 bits 44,1khz" (I know the DacMagic USB only allows 44.1-48khz and 16 bits).
With 0.9y5 I do have the option to choose, and I choose "DAC is 16 bits 44,1khz".

I was wondering, may be the problem is related to the name of the device (USB)...? With 0.9y4 I choose "C-Media USB Headphone Set" (in English) and it works. But with 0.9y5 the USB option I am given is "KS: Dispositivo de audio USB >> #global" (in Spanish). I donīt know if this has any relevance.

Still no sound.

Here it is. The player seems to work (the time slide is running), but there is no sound. I have tried KS through SoundMax Digital Audio (SPDIF) and it works (with continous glitches), but SoundMax resamples to 48Khz, so I prefer not to use it):

I still get no sound from DacMagic through USB...
12  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Help with Kernel Streaming 0.9y-5-01 on: January 20, 2010, 03:50:56 pm

It doesn't make sense to me either, unless you are using the setting "DAC Needs" 24 bits (for 0.9y-4 at least). So, do you ?

No, Iīm not. I have set my DAC as 16-44.1... And I 24 or 32 bits options are greyed our for me. (may be itīs because I use Engine 1 with 0.9y-4?).

Device allocated but can't play; Check DAC Settings, applied Sample Rate etc.

This doesnīt make sanse, as I can play perfect through USB to my Dac-Magic with 0.9y-4.
14  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Help with Kernel Streaming 0.9y-5-01 on: January 18, 2010, 01:43:10 pm
Hi everybody,

I am trying to try the new 9.5, but so far no success. First a little introduction: I use a DAC Magic fed via USB. I tend to avoid using the sound card (SoundMax), as it resamples to 48khz. So far (up to 9.4y) I have been using the C-Media USB audio device that works with the Dac-Magic. It sounds very good using Engine 1.

Now about the new 9.5. With version 00 no KS device appeared, so I decided to wait. Now with 01 I am offered 2 paths:
KS: SoundMax Digital Audio >> #wave
KS: Dispositivo de audio USB >> #global

The first (SoundMax) does indeed work, through SPDIF, but Iīd prefer to avoid it (I donīt want the card to resample to 48khz, you know). Besides, SPDIF has continous dropouts. The second option (USB), the one I am obviously interested, simply doesnīt produce sound. The player seems to work fine, you see how the time register advances to the right, but no sound is produced. What to do?

9.4y keeps working fine with "C-Media USB Headphone Set" audio device.

Hello,

I have just tried Russī link (it recommends unplugging the PC), and it has worked! Thanks a lot!

Now I check if 9y5 is better for me than 9y4!
