Title: XTweaks: Cool When Idle tweak putting all cores at 100% ?
Post by: AlainGr on July 07, 2013, 03:28:57 pm
Hi Peter,

Yesterday I just discovered that all the cores were at 100% all the time, though the frequency is limited at 1.2MHZ (from BIOS, from me)...

When I set the "Cool When Idle" tweak at 1 (Cool, not better), the cores goes back to normal.

As for the rest:
Balanced Load: 45
Nervous Rate: 50
Provide Stable Power: 1
Utilize Cores Always: 1

Time Stability (W8): Stable
Time Performance Index: Optimal

?

Regards,

Alain

Hi Alain,

I have said this several times, also in Release Notes. This is a Windows 8 bug and either it is reality (which is what I believe) or it is not shown properly.
In either case it is my advice to activate Cool when Idle for Windows 8.
I never tried whether is sounds worse with that 100% behavior. I just never allow(ed) it to happen.

You have not told me to read from version to version often enough ;)

What drove me back to check the cores performance was a "lag" that was happening for some time. But as I mention, the CPU is limited to 1.2GHZ while it is capable of much more - so no worry at this time.

But thanks of course :)
