Title: cannot select Engine#4 with Lynx new driver (WaveRT support)
Post by: didierG on December 21, 2010, 04:18:48 pm
Hi Peter

After installing the new driver for the Lynx AES16e sound card on Vista (Build 18j Beta, which brings support for WaveRT) , the KS: drivers are not longer available in XXHighEnd (neither in foobar), whereas it worked with the previous Lynx Driver. I can use the installed driver with Engine#3 only.
Do you think that Engine#4 should work with WaveRT drivers, or that there is something wrong in the Lynx installation which prevent me from using the KS: drivers ?

Kind regards

Didier

Hello Didier,

I'm afraid that if nothing shows from the Kernel Streaming driver(s), it's just not supported anymore by Lynx. Nothing to do about that I guess (but use older ones :)).

Kernel Streaming doesn't particulalrly use "devices" hence it never has been official. That is why you don't see them in the normal devices list (Vista/W7) anywhere. So, that list with KS: devices is created by myself. The other way around : there is no such thing as "KS being able to make use of any other device you see". I know you said (WaveRT) "drivers" but even that is no formal thing for KS. It's a fairly complex enumaration consisting of diverse steps, and you end up with something which will make sound. :) Hard to explain ...
