Title: From Vista to Windows 8
Post by: Tore on January 22, 2013, 06:25:32 pm
Hi!
My daughters laptop is running Vista so i want to upgrade to W8.
(She think the machine is to slow)

The problem is that i can only find my daughters User and she is not Adnimistrator.

I think i have hidden my Administrator User and i can`t find it.

Can someone help me please?

Hi Tore

Control Panel > User Accounts > Make changes to your user account > Change your account type > Administrator

or Manage another account > Choose the account you would like to change

Best regards,
Juan

Ok, try this:

Computer> right click> Manage> Sistem Tools> Local User and Groups> Users> Administrator> activate the account

As this is for W7 try to find something similar in W Vista

Tore,

I didn't read into the last link Juan gave, but that will be it for sure.
Notice that the Administrator account is always hidden (since Vista I think) but that it's also not so much normal to not have Admin rights for the account which was ever made. It is more tough to don't have the rights than to have them.

... And so the question is : what is it that you actually want to do but can't ? It don't see the relation to an upgrade to Windows 8 ... but I am blind more often !

Regards,
Peter

Hmm, that youks like you really don't have the rights.

What happens when you boot from the W8 DVD ?

I have downloaded W8 from Microsofts homepage.

The normal Windows box pop up and ask for permission to upgrade.
But i can not press OK or write any password in that box

Tore,

It may be a too long path for you, but such a download can be made bootable and written to a DVD : http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

This works for W8 too.
