Title: Argument OutOfRange Exception error in version 09v+x
Post by: JohanZ on February 06, 2009, 06:49:27 pm
Hi Peter,

In the period i had the OutOfMemoryException error there was another error called Argument OutOfRange Exception. When i have this error then there is the loop again. XX won't start again without this error.

Quote
When you can't get out of the loop, you can try to delete !Played.dat from your XX folder. It can't harm to delete this.
A !CurrentlyPlaying.PLXX could also be a cause. You can delete that too (at emergencies).

Deleting Played.dat and A!Current.....PLXX files solves this error/loop.

What i did:
1 Selecting in the library area the 'd'-button and pick a date from/to
2 Double click in the library area to select an Album
3 Tracks are direct loaded in the playlist
4 Selecting the play button
5 XX plays in unattended mode
6 sometimes i get this error (not allway's and not sure if it is in the last track)
7 Music keeps playing (not shure)
8 XX ends with the Wallpaper and do'nt switched back
9 I cannot start XX again without this error.

I have the idea it is related to the album selection with the 'd'-button. When you close XX this last selection will be memorized by XX. I use this function to play music of a certain period.

Hi Johan,

Of course I see that your #6 comes in between 5 and 7. I also see your doubts as expressed in 6 and 7.

Now, in order to make this more clear, please tell me : is it so that when this error occurs at the first time, it is the same as when you cannot start XXHighEnd anymore ? if yes, the answer to 6 should be "always when the last track has played". The answer to 7 must then be "right after the music stopped".
Can you agree on this ?

Peter

Today i had the same error again:

5 XX plays in unattended mode
6 The last track is finished
7 In front of the wallpaper i see this error message
8 XX ends with the Wallpaper and don't switched back
9 I cannot start XX again without this error.
10 Stopping XXHighEnd.exe task
11 Deleting Played.dat and A!Current.....PLXX
12 Restart XX
13 Selecting Bugge Wesseltoft again gives another error message
14 Stopping XX and starting XX all works OK

see attachments

Ok, thanks Johan. From this I will try to solve it.

Bugge Wesseltoft ... is it written like that, or are there again any special characters in it ?

Today same error.

This time a crash on Bobo Stenson (Swedish pianist/composer). When i look at the harddisk in the bobo Stenson directory i find the next file:
x-Reference D{{}}Galeries}}Jazz}}-GalleryAlbum.GLXX where did it came from ???

I think this Argument OutOfRange Error is 'd'-button related.

Next period i will test XX without using the 'd'-button!

Sorry for a late response. This is used by the Gallery mechanism. It is kind of half baked, but you should not worry about the files being there. But don't throw them away.

PS: I use the d button quite often and never ran into such a thing. But maybe I don't use Scandinavian music for it !
What do you select in that Date form ? Date Created ? Date Modified ? Nothing ?

After some testing i have the impression that this error is not related to the use of the d button! This error continues to be in earlier mentioned CD's: Bugge Wesseltoft and Bobo Stenson. It is reproducible! But i can't see what's wrong here.  Perhaps a Scandinavian problem? What i will do is removing these cd's from the Gallary and add them again and looks what happens during playback.

In a attemp to solve this error i have deleted this .GLXX file in the directory Bugge Wesseltoft , what now?

Not a huge problem. They are more for future use than today's use. In that future you may have to rebuild things. You can do it for this one album now just the same. Just add the album again to that (same) Gallery, and the file will be back.

Hi Johan,

Deleting Played.dat and A!Current.....PLXX files solves this error/loop.

I can't find this problem ...
When it happens again, can you before doing anything else (so don't start XXHighEnd (again)) post these !CurrentlyPlaying.PLXX and Played.dat files please ?
What I'd like is the situation from when things at first go wrong. So, this is not at the next startup I think, but earlier (??). If only at startup things go wrong for the first time, then that of course.
I hope it is clear !

If at the moment you are posting those files an error is on the screen, please post that error. Never mind you did it before already, please do.
Might the log be on, please once again post the XX logfile of that situation (X3 is not necessary).

Thank you,
Peter

Hi again,

When you are easily able to copy the bug, you just as well might try below 0.9-x2a. I have done my best in there to solve "it" by theory.
Also, *if* the bug still occurs at startup, please try to quit and again startup XXHighEnd before deleting those two files. I have built in something that may cause it not to happen over and over again at startup.

Also, there are some more error messages in there, so if the bug still occurs, you might rather report (see previous post) from this 0.9x-2a version than from 0.9x-2.

Peter

...first go wrong... :dntknw:.not at the next startup.:dntknw:.....

After playing the last track of Bugge Wesseltoft unattended the error is generated. See attachments.

I have the impression that i don't have this error in attended mode.

all testing in 09x-2

Thank you Johan.
I will look at it tomorrow, but it looks like that "IM" as the internally interpreted title of the album (2007 - IM)- and its 2 characters only, is doing it.

Got the same error in X2. Just started the program and had a single wav in the playlist from before. Didn't get so far as to start playback, just started XX. Then the out of exception message cropped up with an OK. The player works normally afterwards.

Hi Johan,

I am fairly sure this particular error is solved in the 0.9x-2a from a few posts back. I still can't see what was wrong though, because I needed the Played.dat (not the !Played.plxx you sent). Played.dat is probably hidden in your XX folder.
But I think : never mind, because this error isn't there anymore.

Now I don't know what it means for the errors following this error. If all is right they are not there anymore as well.

Peter

Indeed i have test Bugge Wesseltoft and Bobo Stenson. Both are played without the Argument OutOfRange Exception error (so far). Congratulations! You did solved something, but what caused it?

Can't find Played.dat in the XX directory.

I have seen one new error. When i start XX again during unattended playback and i change something in the settings, i get a "Reorganize Proxy" message.
Music starts playing again and when i accept the message i am back in unattended mode.

Hey, great that it is solved. The XXDat0001.dat error is just a new error. I have it too and I will solve it (0.9x-2a is just a test version).

And never mind the Played.dat. We don't need it anymore.
But it is only there when you are playing.

Well, thank for your troubles Johan.
Peter
