Title: ALT-X not working to stop 1.86
Post by: soundgals on February 18, 2014, 04:32:15 pm
Peter,

Under W8 unattended with V1.86 ALT-X has not effect. This was after a reboot.

How do I stop it?

Thanks,

Geoff

Hey Geoff, Alt -S stops XX but does not bring back the GUI. Alt-X brings back the GUI but does not stop XX. So, my practice in unattended is to hit Alt-S to stop, then Alt-X to return to the GUI.

Thanks so much Boleary. I think I just realised what's happening; I've lost the use of Bluetooth in unattended mode and I'm using a Bluetooth mouse & keyboard.

1.86 must be turning off the BT service, which didn't happen under previous versions or on Win 7.

I need to figure how to stop XX from stopping Bluetooth.

Listening to a long Jazz playlist right now and seems like I'll have to listen all the way to the end. Never mind, sounds good!

Geoff - Keep PAN services. But this disallows "Stop ALL Services". And not 100% sure whether this helps your BT keyboard and such. So just try it, ok ?

Peter

Thanks Peter, Tried it, doesn't seem to help! Mouse and Keyboard remain unresponsive.

Is there a service exception I can enter instead?

Geoff, I'm sure you can. But don't ask me which one(s).

But are you sure this worked pre 1.186 ? I myself am not so sure I changed much (as long as my advice from my previous post is followed).

Regards,
Peter

I'm sure, I didn't encounter this problem with any previous versions.

...and what's really weird is that the attempts to issue the ALT-X command all seem to be backed up, so although the mouse doesn't move and there's no response of any kind, once the playlist finally comes to an end the warning dialog about XX already running; etc. appears for as many times, I think, as I attempted the command. I then hit "cancel" on these dialogs and need to do ALT-X again to bring XX gui back up. At this stage, the BT devices are obviously responding again. During playback they are. in suspended animation!

Geoff,

Then test this with Q3,4,5 NOT to 1. When it now works right away it is that. Then try whether another Processor Appointment Scheme helps (with 1,1,1 of which I assume you were using) ...

When on W8 I had problems like this too. Increasing SFS helped also.
