Title: Installing Vista
Post by: JohanZ on June 27, 2007, 01:23:03 pm
Hi Peter,

On mine Audio PC I have installed Windows Xp on Partition C and XXHighEnd activated on Partition D. This afthernoon I want to migrade to Vista by cleaning Partition C and do a clean instal of Vista on that partition. Will keep XXHighEnd the activated status? If it changed to demo mode, what can I do .......?  8)

Regards,

Johan

First off, when it will turn out that it changed to demo mode I'll help you out no matter what. For the specific problem Bert had (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=99.0) I found a solution, but it has to be programmed yet. Most probably tonight. BUT, this requieres this solution to run in advance of things, while your case might be an "afterwards" case because it kind of requires a "safety backup" to something you can't have (think of two PC's running, while you can't run both XP and Vista at the same time on the same PC).
Still I think the solution foreseen can manage, but then you should have it FIRST before you proceed with this migration.

Could you wait a bit ?
And not be disappointed when I bump into unexpected stuff and don't have it tonight ?
and be a testcase then ? :grazy:

Peter

Just a question Johan : would you have 2 PC's LAN connected ?

I'm not saying that you must create this situation (for now :). So it's just a question indeed.

Hi Peter,

....at last Succeeded!

Hints:
Both PC's needs XX 0.9b
The "activation code" field needs to contain the path e.g. \\AUDIOPC\XXcurrentversion\
Don't forget the last back-slash! Push the <Activate>-button and restart XX and the job is done! :heat:

Johan

Hey Johan, very good !

One amendment : push the <Activate> button TWICE. :P
(once for the path reference, and once for the then obtained Code)

Hi Peter,

This afternoon I started to install Vista on mine Audio PC. After solving some troubles with drivers the system is now up and running incl.a LAN connection.

In mine attemp to get XXHighEnd running here some experiences:

The first thing I did was creating a shortcut on the desktop (I have a second partition with the XX software). After starting XX I got a complex error message.
The next step I did was making the Folder "XXCurrentversion" empty and reinstall XX 0.9b. Result still the same error message.
I installed DirectX and DotNet Framework 3.0 (I think not necessary in Vista). Result no error message anymore but a safety message of Microsoft. When I activate the button <uitvoeren>, it gives the message "XXHighEnd Demo" and belief it or not after activating the"<OK> button the Dialog box disappeared.......... and....... nothing happens. XXHighEnd don't start!  I don't see any task like XXHighEnd.exe in the Windows taskmanager.

Do you have some suggestions?......... :grazy:

Regards,

Johan

Let me know when you have the software working better,
I prefer not to install software that needs drastic fixes at the
outset.

Forgot to respond in this topic : if all is as expected, this is solved per version 0.9d.
