Same here. Turn off the PC and the red DAC light goes off. I turn off my PC and DAC every night. Once, I turned off the PC but forgot to turn the DAC off and left it on all night. Freaked me out, but all was okay.

Hi Peter, as it turns out I have more tracks than I thought sprinkled throughout my playlists with Windows Media Player ripped wave files. Though I do intend to rerip them that is an ongoing project. Until 95-5 I was able to play them. Would be great if the bug could be fixed when you have the time to look into it. I'm not in a hurry at all. If it's just too much of a pain to do so, that's okay too; I'll just have to speed up my reripping.

Peter, thank you so much for putting any time into this and, please, don't spend anymore on it. When I realized what type of file it was I probably should not have sent it to you. Overtime, I've been replacing all of those WMP rips I actually spend time playing. I've done most, but there's still a few out there. That this arose now just means its time to rerip these two albums. Promise, I'll try not to let that happen again.

This issue doesn't seem related to the slider issue of the other thread. What's weird is, so far, I've only found it happening with two Cat Stevens albums: Tea for the Tillerman and his newest one. I ran a virus scan on the Cat Stevens folder and it was fine. I've tried a bunch of other albums and all works well. Attached are log files of Tea for the Tillerman skipping through the tracks. Don't know if these will help. Let me know if you want to see the actual music files. Thanks.

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Volume Normalization
|

Sorry for being slow, but I'm not sure I get what Volume Normalization is supposed to do. I'm using 9z-4-1. If I set a loud song from a particularly loud album in a playlist of songs as the reference "album" are all the songs in the playlist "equalized" or, in other words, will all the songs in the list play at the same volume??? This of course would be great, but I cannot get it to work. If I pick an album from the loudest song in the playlist and hit set I get a message that it has been set. I then tick "use per track" expecting to have all the songs in the playlist play at the same level but they don't. What am I missing here???

I have the exact same problem here with alt U or D. i have full administrative priviledges. Whats interesting is that in unattended when I hit alt U I do not hear a sound change; however, when I then alt X and the GUI reappears, the sound db # has changed correctly, (lower by 1.5 db). When I then alt p the sound is then increased by the alt u command from the last unattended request! So it seems that the software only partially responds ( the db # changes) to the Alt U command in unattended. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the input. Brian, I live near Philadelphia, US, so unless you are yachting this way, its probably not feasible to give your speakers a listen, though I'd love to hear them! Given my domestic "tranquility", Nick, I best stay away from the Avant Guards, there is already enough discussion under this roof about volume, "wires sticking out" and general size of audio gear, so very large speakers in my domestic setting just won't work....if I want to keep it "domestic". I'm keeping my eye on Audiogon for any of Bert's speakers in the US.
