Title: 0.9z-7 No Playback
Post by: arvind on August 16, 2012, 08:39:32 am
Hi Peter,

I am unable to get 0.9z-7 to give any playback. Seems that the Audio Engine is stalling. Attached are the XX & X3 files for your ref.

Hi Arvind,

Like for others, for you too counts that you should first try normal settings. I don't think that this is the case, looking at the log files (great that you posted them !). Also, I think this is HiRes material and that too may not be the best to start out with.
But I guess by now you already managed ?

Peter

PS: Sorry to replay so late ...

Hi Peter,

You mean the SFS & Q settings should be the same as 0.9z-6  at least to start with?
I haven't used Hi res files, the files are 16/44.1 Wav files.

Yes, that is what I would do.

I didn't look, really, but since 3Doors Down is also a kind of famous early Hires album, I thought it was. Ok …

Btw, at a next attempt, be sure to first kill Engine3.exe from memory. It may have gotten in a wrong state because of your attempt.

Let me know what happens …

Hi Peter,

I have set the SFS =400, Q1=30,xQ=1, attended, without Min OS, but still cannot get it to playback. Attached are the new XX & X3 files for your ref.

I didnt understand how to kill Engine #3.exe from memory, could you pls show me how its done.

Hi Arvind,

Kill Engine3 by means of clicking on the blue led in the right border of XXHighEnd. When it's gone the led will be black.
Otherwise you can kill XXEngine3.exe by means of TaskManager (processes tab).

I hope this is it, because I see no other reason at this moment.

One more thing : Although your Activation Code looks OK to me (obtained August 15th) to me it looks that you did not apply the Activation procedure correctly. This is NOT important for the issue you have right now. So let's first try to solve that, ok ?

Regards,
Peter

Arvind,

What when you lower the SFS ? (make it 120 or so). First shut off Engine3 in such a case when it doesn't work (like you have now).

That message is normal (well, when no sound appears).

Hi Peter,

I have tried SFS of 2, 100, 120, 200 & 400 with Q1= 30 & xQ1=1. In all these settings the playback doesnt start. Really cant seem to understand what is the problem.

When you start Taskmanager, Processes tab, and when you sort on Process Name, the XX programs will be on top at descending order. You can now easily see what is running from XX. Now :

When you press Play XXEngine3.exe should be in that list. But is it and does it stay there ?

Arvind, I have no clue what is going on in your situation. It might be best to install XX in a new folder again. So, if you had
\xxhighend\09z7\
now make a
\xxhighend\09z7a\
and unzip the down load again in there (don't copy anything, but indeed unzip again).

Kill Engine3.exe from memory, and start up XXHighend.exe from your new folder. Don't bother about activation for now.

Do any messages appear which look like abnormal/errors ? then tell them to me.
But I expect it will just work, and something went wrong with the other install.

It may be more convenient to hop over to email from here on. Unless it now works of course.

Kind regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

All worked well with Garbage Collection set to Off.

Thank you very much.

Wow, so that is it.
I changed something in that area and it must be wrong somehow. At least for you. Strange that so far you are the only one …

Is this the PC from your signature ?

Apologies it took us so long !
Kind regards,
Peter

Mines never worked with "Garbage collection on" even in version 6. I just put it down to laptop under powered.

I didn't rate garbage collection as important but having never heard the difference what do I know. "Memory org error 2" comes up.

Is garbage collection important?

Aha. It is as important to know this. I could have searched forever to something I changed which doesn't matter in the end. Hmm … thanks !

Is it important ? Yes, I think it is. But since you can't use it anyway, please don't bother.
But what I would like is being able to copy that behavior, so it can work for all.

Ok, so things did change anyway there. I will look into it.
Thanks !

Peter

PS: Arvind, don't forget to get through the Activation Procedure once again (since you were not Activated properly earlier). Now, I don't know whether you changed things such by all your trials that you previously obtained Code will work. So it is better to obtain another right away. Of course I will send back the money promptly.

Hi Peter,

Sorry I forgot to mention that the Activation was done successfully with the previous Activation Code. Coverart has red border & I could min OS too. In a day or two I will try PA also.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Peter,

I took the precaution of checking with Ken Stevens (CAT) & he has confirmed that the preamp & amp has DC Blocker. However I will still check the DC voltage with & without PA before connecting the speakers.

Best regards,

Arvind
