Title: Include garbage collect error
Post by: arvind on November 29, 2015, 07:17:14 am
Hi Peter,

I have include garbage collect on in my settings. Whenever I boot & start XXHE, it doesn't play & I get an error msg stating to shut garbage collect. Shutting it play starts. After playing a track, I start garbage collect & it plays.

This happens after every boot.

What could be the reason?

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Arvind,

You say "error" but I suppose you mean the message to you that Garbage Collect is consuming cpu and whether to continue or not and re-attempt (that latter is what it comes down to).

First off, when this bothers you you can switch off Garbage Collection in XXHighEnd's Settings (Memory and Disk Utilization section - deactivate Include Garbage Collect). But SQ may deteriorate somewhat.

Anyway when this happens (say one time) after a reboot, then this is quite logical because at that moment there is more garbage to collect (take that literally). This also consumes more cpu cycles.

Nothing to worry about unless it bothers you.

Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Maybe I didn't explain it correctly.

-I boot my PC.
-Open XXHE.
-Load a track in the playlist & click play.
-Play doesn't take place, instead I get 2 error messages.
"MemOrg error 02; if this persists switch off Garbage Collect in settings".
"Input string was not in correct format".
-I go to settings deactivate Garbage collect.
-Click play & it starts.
-Re Activate Garbage Collect, XXHE plays OK.
-Again on next reboot the same process has to be followed.

Best regards,

Arvind

Arvind, I understand now.

Is this 10074 ?
If Yes, what version exactly (Pro, Home, etc.) ?
and
Where did you get it from ?

Peter

Hi Peter,

It's the Pro version.

I don't recall which site I downloaded it from but I presume it must be from the site recommend by you on the forum. But then again I may be wrong. I had downloaded it a long time back but didn't have the courage to use it then.

Best regards,

Arvind

Ok. Well, in a comment in the program I mention (5 years ago) that "possibly this does not work for everyone". This is why it is a setting which can be switched off.
I never heard from anyone that it doesn't work, but maybe not everybody tells about it.

Anyway, I don't know. It just works over here (10074 Pro) and maybe it is combined with another setting you use and I (and all) do not.
But you can switch it off ...
