Title: W10 - Windows Defender
Post by: KnB on June 12, 2015, 11:16:15 am
Hi,
When switching off defender I am not able to use remote desktop and not possible to change to min OS.
"60 | Windows 8 tutorials - switching off Windows defender"

No issue with playback with defender active, but it might have influence on SQ?

What happens in either of these cases ?
Both look exactly the other way around to me, so ... strange.

I have tried to turn it off but it not even present? And while I am here anyway... I see that I am in test mode (rigth lower corner). Is this the normal state? This is in normal but also in min OS...

Never mind... I am in the wrong tree... hahaha

Turned off (in min OS) and everything works fine (Remote Control included).

Yes, that is what I wanted to suggest.

So you can't see it easily here, but there's two "Administrative Templates". IIRC you'd need the topmost one.
But I will see whether I can make the tutorial a bit more clear.

Yes. That is what XXHighEnd did in order to be able to use the unsigned driver(s).

Peter

Remote working when defender is off, not sure why I had problems with this before, might be related to somthing else.

Did some testing, and now the PC did not reboot to min OS at all... Monitor went black for a short while, then back on with xxhighend in frozen condition. After a few minutes PC rebooted to min OS....

All working now with defender off.  :) switched it off in min OS, tks Bert.

No - wait ...

The fact that it can take minutes before the reboot takes place is a W10 anomaly. I can't tell yet what it is exactly but the other day it took me 3 hours to boot into the other "Mode" 10 times or so. Takes longer and longer and longer ... and really nothing to be seen what's holding up.
Longest time was 15 minutes or so. Really crazy.

So now I know that I am not the only one - it should be in a topic somewhere.

Thanks,
Peter

A reboot (all min OS) takes here half a minute ending in an error.

Clicking this error away and all seems fine...

Same here but not sure if it is the actual reboot - here the log in screen comes up quickly but the logon time (actually the time to get the windows screen after entering the login details is about half a minute. Similarly I can reboot (MinOS) but it takes about half a minute to connect via RDC no matter how long after the reboot I RDC connect.

After I connected RDC once (taking half a minute) subsequent RDC connections are immediate.

No problems with Defender I just open it up in FullOS and switch off live monitoring.
