Title: Tidal Song Search
Post by: acg on July 10, 2016, 10:55:44 am
Hi Peter,

Is is possible to search for a song from Tidal in XXHE 2.06?  For instance, I want to play for my kids the original "Ghostbusters" by Ray Parker Jr but if I search for him only albums come ups, not that song.  I search in Tidal itself and the song is there.

Any hints?

Regards,

Anthony

Hmm ...

Anthony, I didn't even think of that. And when I do (now) it seems to me that his will be chaotic. I did not try Tidal itself (you just did) but I'd say that if you can find what you are looking for, it will be quite coincidental or with a LOT of hassle. I mean, you will get too many results for what you are looking for unless the search can be combined with the artist. And my idea about this combining : it would defeat the purpose.

Notice that XXHighEnd itself can search on Track Names. See the small field next to Search where normally an A(lbum) is shown. That can be T(rack) too. But it doesn't help really, unless you first enumerate all the tracks from potential albums from Tidal.

Tidal Search can be extended vastly anyway, but it requires brewing on the How (because Search in Tidal itself is not the best and thus also does not provide the programmable features).

Hi Peter,

How do I find a soundtrack album or something with mixed artists from Tidal in XXHE?

In Tidal, if I put in a search it comes up with results for both artists and albums and I can select whatever suits...but XXHE can search for artists only, and then only return full albums or singles and not the songs/albums that they have collaborated on i.e. the soundtracks/mixed albums.  This means quite a lot of the Tidal database is not available to us XXHE users.

Do you think it is possible to implement the search feature in XXHE as they do in Tidal...that is automatically return Artists as well as Albums on which that artist has tracks which includes soundtracks etc?  I think the Tidal search works quite well and generally have no trouble finding what I am after. Perhaps have Artists in one pane and Albums/Tracks in another pane in XXHE.

In the meantime I robbed my children of some thumping Ray Parker Jr dancing and instead they got to dance to Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (The Message) this morning...haha...they still had fun!

Anthony
