I hope others know. I don't. But to be sure people understand your question you may rephrase it a bit. At least to me it looks like there's some typo's and no question. Cool But I assume the question is whether that memory can run at 1066 MHz ?

Hi Bjorn,

The Q sliders are under the QControl tab. If not, please show me a screen copy of that.

To avoid misunderstandings : I did not do anything about the other things. I am sorry you got the impression I had. Those disappearing controls I will solve though.

Now about your disappearing "control panel" ... I think you may have missed what Unattended is about ...
With Unattended everything disappears, except the music. And it certainly is not the idea to immediately bring up XXHighEnd (= "the control panel") once it disappeared. You should only bring it up when you want to change things, like playing another track, or want to stop.
Knowing this will change you life ... Happy

I must say, I see many things wrong with your screen. I have been looking at it the other day already, but all what I see I can't copy. For instance the pictures at the right. Why are half small and half large ??
Dit you perhaps change the font size in the PC ? (not that I can see you did).
Can you please do this : minimize XXHighEnd to the taskbar, rightclick on that taskbar icon and click the X which appears. Thus, close it directly from the taskbar. Now restart, and then make a screencopy for me. Thus, don't change the panel sizes first.

Btw

re-adjusting the screen size did not solve the problem.
The latter I just told resets all.

Whoa, I hope I can make some sense out of this all. Well, I think I can, but I must try to copy the behaviour of all of this.

I still have no Q slider.

I think you will find them under the QControl tab. Or ? Note that Q1 is there now as well.
If not, can you post a screencopy of that tab contents ?

Thank you Glynn,
Peter

Hi,

At using Engine#3 no format conversions are applied ever. XX just doesn't allow for it. So, when you have sound, you have the original sample rate (at bit perfect fashion). Unless you tick Double etc. of course.

Regarding the DAC test ... it should just work. What happens at your side ?

Yep, very good. A typicle example of what I mean with "hearing the feedback of cymbals".
I continued with an album I have "At last" (Gene Harris and Scott Hamilton Quintet). Same nature. As good. But then each album where Ray Brown comes along the recording is good. Like Paul Newman plays (played) in good movies only. IMO.

Btw, towards the end of your cut is this little drum solo. I can imagine that you can't hear the three different chine cymbals played there (or one is maybe played differently). IOW the Buffalo may not show that. The veils of the toms sound very good anyway, and you will be hearing that the same I guess.

Thanks,
Peter

Last versions of "W" doesn't give the same density to the music

Which is exactly what was reported about 0.9w-9b to have increased. Not that these reports are all over, buy I myself sense similar.
You might try it ... (not for me, but for yourself of course).

But thanks for telling !

q=4 others nothing
best
Leif

Hi Leif,

Apart from that you will have meant Q5=4, I just rechecked, and with Q2 at 0 you can do with the others what you want, just nothing happens in that case. So the fact that the sliders are there may influence sound (Attended) but their position really can't do anything with Q2 = 0.
And if that would be so afterall, it is time to find a more predictable job here !
hehe

Not yet. Listening time is always after bug solving, and during a beer or two. To start with. secret

you´ll receive a mail from filemail.com when it´s ready....

Yep, it worked.
Don't start to send around complete files no matter this allows 2GB (more than my max settings Happy); it's pretty much not allowed. no

I just checked and what happens since I think 0.9w-8(maybe -a) is that it now needs a click on the track first to highlight it. Before this was done automatically.

As far as I can see this only doesn't work (anymore) at dragging files onto the Playlist Area. All the other means are still OK.
Anyway, dragging needs one additional click.

Will be solved in the next version. But if you want I can upload an XXHighEnd.zip right here. You just need to say it ...
(but I try to avoid confusion with such loose hanging around versions ... in the end it will be me making mistakes around that yes)
13601  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9w-9 on: January 26, 2009, 05:34:54 pm
Of course. But what I meant (derived from my own experience) is that (for example !!) bass transients can be so high that various things can't follow. This can be anything needing current, or just the speaker driver.

So the workout of bass being stronger can be opposite of what you think of it. Can be, I don't say it is in your case. But since in my case it seems that bass transients just got *better* it may be a matter of things which can cope and which can't. For example (and you know it I think), if one thing can cope in my situation it is the DAC.
As usual, I don't want to be right. Just trying to determine what's happening. Happy

But that w9 bass, omfg. It is more sloppy, not as well defined and (and this is not a subtle change) much more powerful.

Hmm ... at least that I have noticed too. Not more sloppy btw, but just more powerful.
Be careful that more powerful doesn't incur for other things, like room anomalies now getting profound.

Anyway, if you left the additional Q sliders at 0, this would be an example of an unintended change.
For fun, you could set Q2 to max, and Q4 also to max, and look whether this makes a difference. What could happen is : bass will be more sloppy, and therefore less profound (but as you see I don't talk with the same terms as you, and I use sloppy to deteriorate the bass -> to my belief it won't go the other way around !).

But let's see ...

q=4 others nothing

Leif

You mean you adjust Q4 only, right ? then the whole lot shouldn't be active ... I checked these things in advance, but I will recheck.
If you play Attended, anything is possible. Like the position of a random slider on the screen ?  too much !
Pfff. No ...
13604  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: improved Q adjustment features on: January 26, 2009, 03:05:59 pm
Personally I don't have problems with sending or receiving large files, because it is just a setting in a.o. the email server which is under my own control. For others it may be a solution, which is smart at the same time (just downloads).

But : the main problem for me (and for many I guess) is the upload time. So, download is okay, but upload (equal to sending emails) is of lousy speed.

I must think of the use case yet, but what about forwarding the received email to others ? would that work ? (I guess so, but not necessarily).
13605  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: improved Q adjustment features on: January 26, 2009, 02:47:10 pm
Yes, in this particular case it would. Actually you got ahead of me, because I already intended to implement that.
Note that this can only work for this, and not for any of the other settings (e.g. volume).

If no other things with priority come up, it will be in the next upgrade.
Thanks,
Peter
