 • For Attended Playback the Wallpaper Coverart did not show for the first track playing. Solved.

No Wallpaper during the first track in unattended mode!

And at a second track there is ?

No wallpaper for me either- on any track.  Tried Engine 3 and 4.  The bar at bottom with quick start and start icons does appear or disappear as it should when unattended is checked.

Yes, as always.

Sometimes it still shows, during the first track, the Wallpaper of the session before.

 ....something like this has been reported, but questions from me about it lead to, well, nothing. So, no opportunity to solve it.
?????? I was hoping that you solved it in version y8!  :(

setting: unattended/show back/wallpaper

after <play>-command: sometimes i see the wallpaper from the session before during the first track
second track and further all works ok
Until y5, wallpaper was working ok

Suggestions: Delete old wallpaper after a <clear>-command!
Can you force show wallpaper first, before play? (is that possible?)

Johan, I understand your frustration, but mine is bigger and is on behalf of you (all) ...

I think this topic clearly shows that I can't have a clue whatsoever about what is going on. Somehow exactly nobody ever ran into a situation that it works, and may know what he has changed.

Btw, in two occasions (different topics) I asked to look for ChangeWP running. No answer ...

I just *need* someone who tells me "when I do such and so it works, and otherwise it doesn't".
And to keep in mind : chances are 95% that this is caused by a system not capable of dealing with it because of not enough resources. No matter the second track etc. works. This should (maybe) come forward at just running Engine#3, priorities to Nothing, Scheme to Nothing.
If that doesn't help, it must be a combination of settings somehow. Not that I expect that, but it will be the only thing left.

Peter

I did two attemps to look in Windows Task Manager to see ChangeWP running, but its very difficult to find it in the task manager. Do you have a suggestion to log this activities.

No wallpaper in the first track after a play command!

edit: even with setting show (mirror) back unticked.

Hmm ... what about posting the X3PB log file ? That should at least show the "ChangeWP Call" entries. The one we would be looking for is "First ChangeWP Call". If that is missing, all should be clear to me, and easy to find (the bug). But if it is there (which is what I suspect), then I don't know.

Allright. I just thought of something else I can look at;
Let playback run into the second track and post both the X3PB and the X3 log files please ...

Peter

Hi Peter,
Re: No wallpaper y9_7 & y9_8
Same with me, no wallpaper 'till 2nd track, sometimes even longer.
BTW, switched back to W7Ux64. Running LineOut to pre/power - this enables me 24/192 dac and Quad/AP or AI ..
Here are the log files, hope this helps. Seems there is "ChangeWP call" however "second" afer some minutes. Log files will tell more.

If this helps: MoBo w/ integrated graphics G31 & 2x1GB RAM

George

Is it true for you both that you didn't ask for OSD Time and Text ?

???????
I'm using the OSD text. I did a test this afternoon to untick this option. Still no wallpaper in the first track after a play command.

Please delete the old wallpaper after a clear command......?!

Johan, does the below XXHighEnd.exe help you ? (stuff it over your 0.9y-8 folder)
According to your latest post it shouldn't, but I tested all possible combinations here, and it works.

Let me know !
Peter

Oh, and if it still doesn't work (again, what I expect), please post the XX, X3 and X3PB log files. I *will* get this one !
Btw, including that old Wallpaper shown ... which also doesn't happen here. No Clear button should be needed. It just shouldn't be there. Ok ?

Peter

Johan, while we're at it anyway, can you now see (or explain to me) the difference between how the old Wallpaper showed when the new one didn't show at the first track - and how the old shows (if so) now it is working again for the first track ? I mean, it may be so that you can still briefly see the old one, or maybe you don't see the old one anymore ...

?

Setting: Unattended/Show Back/Show OSD text/Wallpaper

What i see in old versions (< 09y-6):
  • sometimes XX shows the old wallpaper from the session before for one second;
  • sometimes no OSD text in the first track;
  • most of the time all works ok.

in version 09y-8a so far
Yesterday i saw during the start of the first track:
  • Windows wallpaper => XX Wallpaper without OSDtxt => OSD-txt => all ok;
  • sometimes XX shows the old wallpaper from the session before for one second, followed by the right one.

Hi Johan. Thank you. I think I saw it myself now yesterday, and it seems (or looks) to be dependend on what you did before. A kind of : when playback automatically ends (end of album etc.) the behaviour is different from when you explicitly stop.

But I will solve it.
And not with a Clear button, if you don't mind ... :)

Johan, I think I know how you get fooled by this. IMO this is what happens (or at least can happen) :

1. You let a playlist run until the end;
2. XX Comes up automatically; in this case the XX Wallpaper is still there (debatable whether this is good or not);
3. Start Playack again (from another album);
4. XX vanishes.
5. The still there Wallpaper disappears, because the whole screen briefly gets black, and reappears when the screen is up again (this is Windows);
6. The new Wallpaper shows.

Now, somewhere in between 2 and 4 you are being mislead, because you may not see the Wallpaper, because of XX overlaying it. In your case this is very plausible (very small screen). In *all cases* you will notice the second stage of 5, because the screen turns from black to the old Wallpaper and it for sure is *that* what you will notice. But think further ... just nothing changed, and the Wallpaper is still there, as how it was at #1/2.

What you also won't know (because you can't see it with XX overlaying the desktop) is that Stop is your wanted Clear button; It removes any XX Wallpaper ...
And this is the difference between you stopping and the playlist ending by itself ... there is no Stop. But I think I can fake that, so all gets back to normal ... Notice that this is the same subject as the (same) discussion from a few weeks back, but I only now see what is bugging you, and what can be done about it.

Peter

PS: It is also psychologically, because when you click Play you see something changing : From an XX screen to an old Wallpaper. Not so here (and as with most) : the old Wallpaper was there, and stays there until sound of the next begins. Nothing much wrong with that ...
