61  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd PC / Re: FIFO errors with Stealth - Clairixa - Intona on: October 16, 2016, 08:33:05 pm
Hi Mani,

Thanks for your reply. I will contact them. It makes sense that it is the Intona.
I already had some issues with my Intona in the past so it is now time to solve it.

62  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd PC / FIFO errors with Stealth - Clairixa - Intona on: October 16, 2016, 08:19:17 pm
Hi,
Got my Stealth Mach II last Friday and I like it very much. But.....

The combination with Intona only works with a cheap USB between PC and Intona. And not with the Clairixa in between. I get fifo errors, hiccups in the sound.
The Clairixa between Intona and NOS1a is no problem.

I also tried to switch the short and long Clairixa's but same result. Two 'broken' Clairixa's? I do not think so.

I remember that I had the same issues before with my old PC. But that was solved when I changed the PSU used for the USB card. So it has also a relation with the new lineair PSU of the Stealth.....

Are there others having similar issues?

So far I think it might be an Intona issue. But before contacting them I would like some advice.

Regards, Arjan
63  Ultimate Audio Playback / Interesting Music / Testmaterial / For guitar lovers and low bass on: October 10, 2016, 09:59:43 am
Hi,
I listened to Jeff Beck's Loud Hailer album. There are some nice tracks on it with a lot of low bass sound. Although my system can not go that low I was surprised of what I heard.

64  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: B'ASS Current Amplifier on: June 30, 2016, 11:33:20 pm
Hi Peter,

Just to be sure, is the B'ass ready to be ordered without VC?
Because a solution could be that I add an passive attenuator between additional sources (TV or whatever) and B'ass. So the B'ass is only a input selector. And only one RCA input is needed.

Additional question: is there any reduction in SQ for the NOS1a because of this input selector? As it is something extra in the signal path. Because if that is the case, even how handy it might be, I do not want it.

Hi Peter,

Does that mean that the VC is not good for the main (nos1a) input but still useful for the additional rca inputs? Or not at all?

Or will you search for a better solution?

If this is it I would go for a 35vIx2. Plus blaxius of enough length (50 cm?) to place the B'ass next to the NOS1a.

Hi Peter,

Is there any news on the volume control in relation to the SQ.
As far as I remember that was still a subject you would look into.

Looks really nice.
In my situation it will be NOS1a next to B'ass next to MachII.

Case is okay for me too.
For me it will be #3 then.

If the input selection and volume control is not hurting the SQ for normal NOS1a use I am also in the market for that.
To have the possibility to connect a TV via rca.

Yes it is. Thanks Peter.

Hi Peter,

I see in the specification that the internal memory is now 32Gb. Why is that? Does that mean that 16Gb is no longer enough or just anticipating for the future?

About the CPU. Do you have any thoughts about the much cheaper Xeon 2620V4 (octo) version? I know more cores will load a album faster but what about SQ?

Is the DVD player needed? I always use an external usb player if needed.

I am really interested in this MachII, but also a bit hesitating. What will it bring, it is not a DIY pc anymore and I am also awaiting the B'ass.

Hi Peter,
Your warning is clear, I will stop guessing. But this MachII is a real teaser and still a black box for us..... But with a lot of promises!

Hi Joachim,
I missed that about the Xeon CPU in the last batch. So for this X99 socket 2011-3 it could be the new Xeon E5 2620 v4... just 85 watt and a lot of cores.

About the processor. I see that Michael is using a Xeon CPU. Maybe low wattage so it can be fanless? But still 8 cores?
Not sure but I would say that a e.g. 5930K CPU (140w) cannot be used fanless, unless we can be for sure it always run at low speeds.
What I remember is that Peter did stress tests at full CPU speeds for the LPS. To me that seems impossible with a 140w CPU and fanless....
I think the Noctua cooler is not that good. I could be wrong.
