Title: 0.9z-5-1 - unable to create initial config file
Post by: Calibrator on June 08, 2011, 09:30:48 am
Hi Peter,

I've been trying to get 0.9z-5-1 running on my study PC, and whenever I try to either save a preset or when I exit XXHE, I get a "Save presets" error window pop up that says "Presets were not saved due to a problem loading them".

When I restart XXHE I then have to go through the process of defining the parameters again. I've tried various paths for XXData (which seems to be the common factor) all to no avail.

0.9z-5 behaves OK.

I cleaned out the config files in the \phasure folder also with no improvement.

Had a search through forum but couldn't find anything specific, so figured it might be something introduced in this version.

Haven't tried on my music server yet.

At one point it mentioned something about "presetloader.xxss" ( or similar wording I think ), but couldnt find any sign of that file anywhere.

Ta,

Russ

OK , tried same thing on my music server and had similar issue with that message popping up.

Have figured out what the problem is though ... there was no PresetLoader.XXSI file showing in the new version folder I just created. Doesn't even exist in the download zip  rar.

It was however in my 0.9z-5 folder so i copied that into new folder and all is well.

Not sure how or when that presetloader.XXSI file is created , but this is the cause of my problem.

Will see if it cures my "Study" PC now.

Cheers,

Russ

Copied the PresetLoader.XXSI from 0.9z-5 to 0.9z-5-1 and all OK now with new version :)

Cheers,

Russ

Ok, I removed the download.

This has been a most smart activity by me. XXHighEnd now checks whether the load of the settings has succeeded, and when not, it won't save the wrongly - or halfy loaded set. Nice ...

What I forgot about though, is that I ever stranged the strategy from providing you with a set of settings created by me (which would allow changeing them easily as default) into normal defaults as ever. Even the Releasenotes concerned mention the old strategy which never existed publically.
... I just looked for 30 minutes myself why the PresetLoader file has vanished from that "Production" folder.

So, in combination we now have no Preloader file because the defaults are hard in the program, and thus no presets are loaded, which next doesn't allow to save them.
And at next startup the same. Waterproof !
:swoon:

Russ, again, thank you very much.
For existing users the problem indeed can be solved by your description. New users ... will be no new users. :scratching:

Later today I will have another attempt.

Peter
