Title: Screen resolution
Post by: JohanZ on June 25, 2007, 11:56:57 pm
Hello Peter,

After testing different versions of XXHighEnd they all have the same problem.  In the playlist I can only see 5 characters of the trackname. Number and Time are ok.  I am using a 8" TFT Touch screen for mine Audio PC. It is build for a resolution 640 x 480. Is there a solution for this problem?

Regards,

Johan

Pwew, I guess that's a matter of determining what can go in order to make space for the trackname.

First a question : how are the buttons (and all) on such a screen opposed to useablity by your fingers ?
And, would you say that the album picture can be smaller in order to save space ? (I'm not asking for other/better options to apply, and I'm just asking how legit it would be to shrink the picture on such a size and res screen).

And just for my information, what kind of device would this be ? (e.g. you say touch screen, but will you ever (or often) use that feature. Also, is it right in front of you or at a distance in the rack)

Regards,
Peter

With a special pencil I activate the buttons to controle XX. The album picture can be smaller. Or make it optional to display it. Or make an extra TAB for the picture with realtime tracktime and title. (better options..... :blush1:)

So I can leave keyboard and mouse away and select with a pencil the tracks. Mine audio PC or screen is not in front of me, but at a distance.

Just an idea Johan ...

From a distance, the picture would be the most important, right ?

Now, suppose you can touch (click) the picture, and it disappears with a convenient timer of say, 5 seconds before it returns (the number of seconds coult be a setting; This timer will stall when you use the Library button ... not when you drag from Explorer). Instead of the picture the tracknames will appear obviously ...
When you drag in a track (or several) the connected album picture will show immediately just as it does currently (when you want to confirm the tracknames you'd have to touch the picture again).

For additional conveniency, when a next track starts, the picture will disappear again according the timer setting (although that might give uneasyness ?). Note that the current trackname will always show at the bottom, but that won't give you the "relativeness" of where you extactly are throughout the album (Playlist).

I'd say this covers all. Or ?

If you have any better ideas, just say so !
Peter

PS: ... the touching of the picture will be the opposite of logic when it disappears, but of course we can find something else to touch.

Which wouldn't be quite true I see now : http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=97.msg484#msg484
But that can be changed.

........better ideas.....????..

Most of the musicfolders I have, does not contain a picture (at the moment). On the TAB "Playlist" however the software still minimize the tracktitle space, even when there is no picture to show.

Your suggestion of switching of the picture seems to me a good idee. As long as there is a picture to show. Otherwise you can show the complete playlist.
