Hey Juan,

this is a SOTA rack, great! Happy

The no. 10) isolation discs might be/is a starting basis.

Joachim

Yes Joachim, this Artesania Audio are really first class. The isolation discs you mention have a slit where goes the spike but could be placed directly on a board. However it is important to see the system as a whole. In the case of the bamboo boards if I woud use some kind of damper IŽd use the metal discs with a felt underneath (Dampers from A.A.)

Another home made solution that I have used successfully with other Ikea boards is to place between two boards several Allsop Mouse Pad covering the entire surface, that way there is a layer of rubber between the two boards that serves as a damper. You can also try it between the two bamboo boards.

Allsop Mouse Pad: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allsop-Raindrop-Mouse-Pad-Black/dp/B00I5MQOO6/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1423228461&sr=8-6&keywords=Allsop

I used an Exoteric Rack from Artesania Audio, the tandem one, although not right now because I have not room enough. This rack is composed of two racks, one is suspended inside the other one. The system components are also suspended in small arms terminated on footer pads. It is a kind of floating system and of course can be used also with platforms or boards. What I mean is that it is necessary the combination of different isolation systems to get a really well isolated system.
Now, with the bamboo boards, could be that the board itself be a good isolating platform but maybe needs some other elements to perform really well. Among the accessories that I also use often are the dampers (see pic), IŽll try them also with the bamboo boards and see what happens.

Maybe some blu-tack used as footers could help to damp the bamboo board

Don't ask me whether those ink/pencil spots will make a difference.

Peter, before downing the first beer I have to have some things clearer, otherwise it is going to be really difficult to know what I'm doing  Wink

Ok, I take the piece down right on the previous picture to use as an example. I make a hole in the center and two holes on the side (see photos). Is that what you say? The question is, why the holes?, are they just to remember the position or have any special effect on the sound?

While Peter reveals his secret  Happy here you have the bamboo footers (2.5cm x 3.7cm and 3.7cm x 3.7cm). They are cut from the mid size board.

No big deal to change of course (just exchange the output terminals).

Ok, no problem. Thanks

Hi Peter, I realized that with the Blaxius the phase is changed, I mean sounds that were in the left speaker now are in the right speaker. I took a picture of the BNC cables in the board, it can be seen that the left cable goes to the left BNC connector and the right cable to the right connector. However there was not the red cable that you mentioned in your installation manual. Did I do something wrong?

After one  month and a half since I did the Blaxius upgrade I could finally test it. The first thing that caught my attention was the smoothness of sound. At first it seemed a little frustrating because the voice appear a bit far and lifeless (Tony Rich Projects-The Words. India Aire-Acoustic Soul). After a little more time listening everything seems placed correctly. Yes, indeed there seems to be more of everything: bass, harmonics, body and a clarity that is very well integrated in the fuller sound. But above all...above all has that kind of smoothness that is very rarely achieved and that makes me salivate. It really affects me physically. I LIKE IT !! ,

I discovered however something on the negative side though it has not to do with the perceived sound. The speakers now make a small background noise, which sounds like noise from the mains. It could be the way I connected the power cables. I hope so...no time now to make changes on this regard. WeŽll see.

Once again, thank you Peter.

Besides the isolation feet under the audio PC and the NOS1 maybe you should consider also to isolate the NOS1 plates as I did when upgrading to Blaxius. Although I couldnŽt test it yet maybe it would be something to consider.

Answer to your key question Juan :

Make "Shares" of your music disks on the PC containing the music (which is similar to that being a NAS). When this is done properly you can see these disks on the audio PC which itself has nothing connected for music disks. Now you can select the music as always (no difference anywhere) from within XXHighEnd. So now the music is loaded over the LAN.

Your music PC is now as lean as possible; contains only some OS device (usally a spinning disk or SSD, but can also be e.g. a USB stick).

Peter

PS: I see no laptop in this process, unless it is that "PC" containing all the music.

Hi Peter,

Does it mean that I can connect the music hdd, that only has the music albums, directly to the audio PC using an ethernet cable? I thought that to create a LAN it was necessary to do it in between computers with an Operating System on each one.

Could you tell me please with some more detail how to do that "Shares" on the PC containing the music?

Regards,
Juan

Hi Juan,

What is your problem ?

Peter

PS: teasing

Hi Peter, thanks. Actually the idea was not to solve "my" problem (only), but to take this opportunity to expose a situation in the forum that seemed important as it is the poor active participation of members. I was wondering if it was due to the technical complexity and/or to the difficulty of finding specific topics or posts. Of course I could be wrong in my perception.

Due to some familiar issues IŽm out of home since last Christmas and until the first days of February so it will be better if I be back with some more consistency with this topic later.

Anyways, as summarized the doubts I can recall now are:

Why a LAN? In my case would be to avoid to connect the hard drive with music via USB to the Music PC and replace it with a laptop connected to the Music PC with an Ethernet cable. The hard drive with music would be connected to the laptop with a USB cable.

My doubts are (thinking that I use NOS1a):

Have any influence on the SQ the connections mentioned above?

What is better a LAN (with a laptop) or a NAS?

Which is better Wirless or with an ethernet cable?

One of the problems I found is that the Music PC does not "see" the music hard drive with the music, so the only way is to copy some music of this hard drive to a folder on the desktop of the laptop to be viewed on the Music PC.

Surely there will be another way to do it better and that's what I also wanted to know.

Kind regards,
Juan
