16  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Slow downs when Minimized??? on: January 13, 2017, 06:11:53 pm
Ok. It looks as I fixed this problem!
As said on D: I have four folders, one of them contains music and it only has been shared.

I tried creating a subfolder again called MUSICA where I transferred all albums. In XXhe I now point to the new subfolder. And it now works without errors.

I noticed another "problem" though. To perform operations above I rebooted XXhe in normal mode. When at the end I wanted to switch to Minimized OS I got window at attachment. Is this normal?

Thanks.

Yes. If you don't have the Music Root properly set, it is. Haha.
The general hint is that you must have a general root like "\MyMusic\" and not your albums right in there or even one other file at that level. And I bet you that you use a NAS and that the share you made there is not at the level of such a general folder (like "\MyMusc\").
Anyway, no, as long as that message appears your settings are not right yet (never mind it may play).

My music is stored in a external USB3 4TB hard disk and is seen on the music server pc as D: unit. There only are 4 folders in there, one called MUSICA, which has been shared. Not even one single file alone in D: root.

On audio pc, via RDC, is seen as at the attachment. Fine.

When I select it in XXhe settings (pressing ok at the bottom of the windows. Thanks Joachim) I get the other picture below.

Anyway everything works... only I get following error after XXhe is launched: Music Root (Settings Area) must be a folder.

Any suggestion? Thank you.

No Antimalware programs installed... it was related to Windows Defender. Now shutted off by indicated procedure.

Enough for today.

On the fun. Yes, there always is some with XXhe. Probably a bit too much ;-)

I see. I didn't know that. Never read anything about...
A few other things.
- I always get error at attachment. Is this also normal?
- as Taskbar might work or not, what should I do to shut pc down?
- Task manager picture while XXhe is playing. OK?

Thanks!

I was able to set up the audio pc, to access it by RDC and to access the shared music folder (usb hd connected to music server pc).
All is working perfectly fine. In a convincing way.
This morning I activated XXhe and later activated the Minimized OS function. First had to change UAC (via XXhe) and reboot. Then clicked on Minimized. I saw 5 or 10 windows briefly automatically opening and closing. Impossible to read something about, too quick Then reboot took place.
First thing I can notice is that when RDC connection is run the initial log in page (no need to write anything) is much slower than before. Then desktop is shown but it takes a couple of minutes to show the little yellow folder icon (see picture). For about 4 or 5 minutes if I move mouse over the windows icon at lower left (to shut down or reboot) I can only see a blue round circle... no commands are accepted.
XXhe anyway plays in Minimized mode. But these slow downs don't look fine to me.

Suggestions? Checks to perform?

I do confirm: no OS optimizations and/or registry tweaks.

I obviously only installed latest drivers from Asus website for motherboard. Chipset, Intel Management Engine, Ethernet, VGA and Xmos board.

Immediately after FIRST XXHighEnd.exe file start I got popup to reboot in order to change UAC. Immediate restart followed.

The other pictures were taken LATER, after various reboots.

I'm 99% sure that memory was NOT set to SC by default!

23  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 2.07 installation and activation on: January 03, 2017, 04:09:25 pm
I see. So you mean that by default, at initial installation, memory is ALREADY set to "Straight Contiguous"???

I can't remember that... but I'd bet that I changed to SC manually later.

Sorry Peter, I don't remember the error shown :-(
I'd better to take a picture... but I soon pressed to reboot.

But I'm missing what kind of problem memory set to straight continuous produced!

I only couldn't connect to the internet and it was due to something wrong in the installation procedure on 64bit systems (your words). As said at first XXHighEnd.exe file run I was required to reboot in order to change UAC.

Two notes:

in Win10 settings/about I can read: Windows 10 Pro N

It was downloaded from MS servers directly to a bootable USB memory key.

Under Activation I see: Windows is activated with a digital licence.

Notice that I did NOT write key code (that I have) during installation. "Simply" servers recognized that this motherboard with Win 10 was already activated in the past.
26  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 2.07 installation and activation on: January 03, 2017, 02:46:14 pm
Ok, I pressed "Set back UAC to Normal" and was notified that memory would be set to "mixed" then got a window with a error... but was able to reboot.
Now it's possible to connect to the internet. While XXhe plays.

In the "stop" menu I can read "Set UAC to optimized XXhe usage".

What do you suggest to do? To activate without doing anything else?

As I'm here... two questions:

- Win 10 stopped updates: is this only true with XXhe running? Or once command is set it anyway works?
- this XXhe PC will be positioned in the audio system and RDC controlled. Now XXHighEnd.exe is run manually, should it be then set for auto loading at start-up?

Yes, memory setting was modified to get "straight continuous"!
Internet connection was tempted under this condition.

Anyway very initial UAC window and reboot is something different.

Will report later.
28  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 2.07 installation and activation on: January 03, 2017, 11:16:44 am
Ok, I will try later with "Set back UAC to normal" and report.

Yes, probably win reinstall would be not required... but "MS" downloaded version, as far as I can remember, allowed for various languages installation while the other one was english only. I remember a N somewhere (could be unrelated though). There might be a difference.
29  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 2.07 installation and activation on: January 03, 2017, 11:05:36 am
One "detail": as I had problems with usb/i2s card driver and had to reinstall W10 several times to fix it I probably used W10 14393.0 directly downloaded from MS servers. I will try with the other 14393.0 got from a different link...
30  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 2.07 installation and activation on: January 03, 2017, 11:01:36 am
Hi Peter. Yes, I do confirm I only installed 2.07 version! Win 10 was just installed on a formatted SSD. No older XXhe versions around.

hmm... maybe I could reinstall W10, drivers and 2.07 to check again. USB memory keys with required softwares are ready and full procedure isn't that long.
