1  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Random skips/stutters 0.9-z6 on: September 23, 2011, 02:05:01 pm
You mean with that Weiss from your signature ?

Yes, the WEISS.

I had all the time problems on my PC with the KS mode - Special, except with 0.9-z6 and the NOS1 with the minimized OS.

By the way, the NOS1 is enroute to you for the update and I hope to get him back before "Christmas 2012".

What I talk about, I would describe it as a scratching sound. Like jamming the tone arm from the turn table from start to finish in a couple of seconds.

I have the same problem with the KS Mode: Special

"Adaptive" works fine

Hi Peter,

the SQ (same settings as with 0.9z-4.1) with this version is really amazing.

This is the biggest step forward since I'm with XXH.

The tonal balance is much better (improved mid tones replay) than before. The fine resolution in the highs improves a lot (I like cymbals), the bass is unbelievable, very tight and I can hear "Nathan Easts"  bass with "Fourplay" as never before. He is playing a "melody guitar" with his bass on some tracks.
The holographic image of the SQ is lifelike.

Now it is really time for an update of the NOS1.

Great job Peter.

5  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z-6 RAR'd now ? on: September 12, 2011, 10:00:26 am

Is this a real problem ?

No,
maybe by others. There are 56 downloads until now only.

Hi Peter,

no ZIP compression, which I can open with W7,  for the program anymore?

That we all should wait for 0.9z-6 really is something else, and about introducing confusement - yes, my fault. But I think 0.9z-6 will be up soon now.

- W7 version ? I am quite sure SP1 is not good. But :

Take it easy,
Peter

Hi Peter,

in your release note for 0.9z-5 you wrote:
 - Expected SQ changes compared to 0.9z-4-1 : NONE. -
But this was with W7 SP1 RC.

With plain W7 I hear differences between both releases now.
You have been unsatisfied with plain W7 in the beginning of 2011, until Marcin came up with SP1 RC, and now we are in a "technical sense" back in 2011, Jan.

To make a long story short, we are eager to listen to 0.9z-6 soon.

Hi Peter,

we are back in square I.

Installed 0.9z-4.1 on a RAM disk again.

The SQ is less "aggressive", nice highs with the cymbals, mids improved and the sound is smoother now. That is my impression.

9  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9Z-5-2 on: September 03, 2011, 06:42:00 pm

1.
Remember what I said at going back from SP1 RC to vanilla : the balance is crazily wrong, and too high output is all over (besides no mid bass at all). In addition, the now (!) added mid bass masks the too high output.

Peter

Hi Peter,

in Jazz concerts the drums are the primary instrument to hear. The  SPL of the Bass is always a problem.
The missing mid bass is a more acceptable compromise than the music behind a curtain with less heights.

Conclusion:

we need version 0.9Z-6 since "yesterday".

10  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9Z-5-2 on: September 02, 2011, 08:55:31 pm
Hi Peter,

I played until today with version 0.9Z-4.1, stripped my W7 off SP1 and the SQ was amazing .

Changed two hours ago to 0.9Z-5-2 with the same settings,
and the heights are gone. The SQ is muffled in the heights, bass is tighter than before, which is a positive effect. "The music is playing behind a curtain."
The magic of the cymbals is not the same as with 0.9Z-4.1.

Please check with "Vertu", track 7 and start at 2:00 minutes.

I'm now back to 0.9Z-4.1.

best

Joachim

P.S. I will update my signature soonest

Is there no way to get rid of this influnces by the OS and so on? Maybe a very simple hardware that just runs XX using some tiny little OS that can not mess things up? Changes of the sound by installing SP1 RC or what ever are in the end out of our control and will come and go. How can we grab that problem by the root and solve it once and for all?

Peter could open a second business line in assembling and sales of dedicated music servers with an optimized OS destined for XXH.

Joachim,

If anyone wants to spend 150 (in any currency) on a USB cable, please do so. But I think you can reserve some space on eBay already before it arrived.

Regards,
Peter
