... So if you meant that in the first place, there's 1 in there at this moment and if I change that to 100 and then back to 1, all sticks.

I am lost. Happy

Hi Brian - Are you saying that you changed the Nervous Rate in your signature from 100 to 1 ?
Sorry to be thick, but this was quite unexpected (regarding the other topic about the same thing in XXHighEnd).

Hmm ... I am always glad when our second day of Christmas is over, so I can finally stop playing the Jingle Bells. Happy

But what do Christmas songs have in common, generally ? they are short.

Um ... but *that* is not going to remove your signature.
Maybe you posted in the wrong topic ?
1190  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Are 2.07 and 2.09 better(?)and XTweaks nervous rate setting on: December 30, 2017, 04:27:27 pm
Hi Brian,

I can confirm this is a bug; happens to everyone. So regardless of the setting of the "Is Stealth" button, at startup it is regarded as "Yes" always. So it is not related to a reboot. And, how it can be that you don't see it go wrong at a restart of XXHighEnd, I don't know. So over here it *always* resets to 100 (and the Cool when Idle will be set to 1 as well, although I did not test this).

Don't forget to click Apply when you change it for the session.

It is solved for 2.10.

Thanks a lot for your efforts,
Regards,
Peter

OK Brian, thanks.
Can you email me the text you paste in and which disappears ?

I actually should have anncounced yesterday that this issue is solved.
But it isn't ?

Brian, I put yours back. Can you retry ?
I actually hope that you only *saw* yesterday that it had gone. And not that you *did* something yesterday to let it disappear. Can you confirm one or the other ?

Hi Brian,

Does activating the "Is Stealth Mach II" really setting that Nervous rate to 100 ? Maybe you are right, but I don't recall that.
Also, I think that only one setting is "taken over" and grayed out. For sure not all of them. So mind you, only when it is crucially important I would do such a thing *and* gray it out.
Of course it can be so that defaults sneaked in which shouldn't have. And they apply with a fresh install. But ...

1194  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.09 sound quality on: December 29, 2017, 04:01:12 pm
All,

Yesterday was the 4th day that I played with an SFS of 20.19.
The .19 is a residue from the 10.19 I use prior to that, and I did that deliberately.

In my perception this brings even more highs than the "too much of it" I reported about 10.20, earlier on, but now the highs are not nasty. I actually love this sound. The level of (good) detail is wild.

Peter

Hey Joseph,

Quote
In a test install over 10074, it deleted all of the apps in the Programs Files, both x86 and x64.

Ehh, WHAT ?
Are you saying you use such an ISO to Upgrade an OS like 10074 ?

?

Hey Charlie,

When you run into that problem, did you just select the tracks for a first time, or was it a left over of a previous attempt (or playback which you stopped for other reasons) ?
I ask, because I feel this can make a difference.

What I now of myself is that I seldomly work with a selection of a previous playback because, well, I got fed up with it (but say that I did not stop playback without reason). So what I almost exclusively do is something you may not even be aware of :

Click the [ P ] from Playback Area (selection), which clears the selection completely.
BUT and ALSO :
I recall that you don't use a Tablet etc. for control. This will mean that you are the by now more rare occasion of NOT using the "Touch Facilities" (see Services and OSD section in Settings). And *now* suddenly we might have a good reason of
a. me never seeing this behavior;
b. it possibly being wrongly working just because of the normal mouse operation.

Ad b.
The "Touch Facilities" were developed maybe 3-4 years ago while one year ago the track selection received a complete overhaul. OK, this development was not done under the condition of "Touch Facilities", but as you can imagine, real life operation implies a h*ll of a lot more than stupid developer testing.
So what if you could try to work with the Touch Facilities to see whether that helps ? If so, I at least know where to start looking. Notice that this takes a bit of getting used to, like not using Ctrl-Click etc. because all adds autmatically to the selection (everywhere) and you thus now need the means to Unselect (like mentioned [ P ] button).
If you don't like to do this, then OK. But it could be helpful.

Thanks again,
Peter

Well Ramesh, what a super joy it is to read this. I feel honoured (and I am sure Bert too or even more).
And what a phantastic photo !

What I also (only now can) notice is how we both managed to let this blend in that room. Very very well done of you, but also very well done of us both without ever being there (or you being over here). I think we'll agree that it has been most challenging and the opposite of being on the safe side and make them piano black, like my own. So I recall that even for myself I couldn't decide what to do because of being afraid it wouldn't work out.

About the F-M settings : only very occasionally I try the Highs one step up. Just when I think the music can have/bear it. But these days it doesn't last long, probably because there already is so much highs because of all the added up "tweaks", plus that those means make the highs louder in a more natural way. So the F-M highs surely makes the sound more spacious, but also with less color in the upper regions. Well, that was my perception the last time which was prior to the Lush I think, so maybe I must try it again.

Thank you very much for this nice write-up !

It's back now, but (somehow !) it does not like being saved when it is there already. So a kind of :
1. Change text in there;
2. Copy text.
3. Click Change Profile (now it disappears);
4. Paste back the Text;
5. Click Change Profile (now it sticks).

It would be good if you don't change things as of now, so we can look into this and solve it with this example (it is most probably data (content) related). So we will save back that same text I put in a couple of times again until it works (read : don't change because you will lose that as of now).

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience,
Peter

Hi Charlie,

Wouldn't it be easier to simply disable WASAPI from within xxHE in settings?   Or does this not sufficiently accomplish what you want?

You understood that correctly. One thing : It allows for anomalies between normal OS and MinOS. So in Normal OS another sound device could be selected than is available in MinOS (some people don't understand what's happening regarding this). So when all is shut off at both sides the same, this "issue" can not occur.
But since you understand this sufficiently, you can now do as you please. Happy

Yes, AIF(F) is treated as WAV.
It would be true do that not all that many people use AIF and for example, if I use it, I won't even notice it. IOW : Technically (in the start up process of playback) the both are different so if you could be so kind to keep track of whether you play AIF or WAV then possibly the problem(s) can be pinpointed to AIF. I am never thinking about these differences, but they *are* there ...

Also, please take care that your "Always clear Proxy before Playback" is activated (Memory and Disk utilizaton section). Loading will be slower occasionally but will also be way more decent.

Regards,
Peter
