Title: Win 8, Unattend Playback Reboots My Computer
Post by: minzyman on August 19, 2013, 06:41:22 am
Has anyone experienced the situation with a new Win8 Pro rebuild whereby your newly activated XXHighend player, when run in unattend mode, automatically logs you off and drops you at the Login page of Win8? I cannot play in unattend mode, XXHighend crashes very quickly and the login page pops right up, asking me for my Win 8 login.

I rebuilt my machine using all the suggestions on the Win 8 Pro tutorials section, finally got red type saying that I had activated (I just kept pasting the activation code, about 6 times, then rebooting). Am running the Win7 shell and all is working smoothly now, except unattend playback.

When I log back in, the desktop comes back up and I see an error msg in lower right corner:

Windows couldn't connect to the system event notification service… etc.

Thoughts? Experiences anyone?

Thanks.

/LM

I've had this happen twice in the last couple of weeks but I just press the power button on the pc to shutdown (rather than logging in) then restart and it all seems to work.  Unfortunately I am too new at this software to help you too much.

I'm sure if it's exactly the same, but I've had W8 installed since February (so not a new W8 Pro build) with no issues whatsoever, but only yesterday I was automatically logged off when entering an Unattended playing session (in Minimize OS mode).

I simply rebooted, went into normal OS mode, went into the W8 shell, and then back into the W7 shell. Booted up XX, went into Minimize OS mode and everything is working as expected again.

As I said, I've no idea if this is related to what you're experiencing, but if it is, at least there seems to be a simple solution.

Why this should have happened almost exactly 6 months after installing W8 Pro, I have no idea.

Mani.

Hello ,

see also : http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=2588.0

we examined by email the problem and it turned out that it was Windows Defender interacting with XXHE .

Lee,

Maybe it is behind the link I did not follow, but I know of at least one situation where Defender can not be shut down

By heart : put (windefend) in Services to Keep, and find the adjacent process for it (something with a Q In it). Put that in Processes to keep (between () ).

Regards,
Peter

Peter,

Easiest thing to do is turn off Windows Defender. That worked perfect for me— no protection! (Reminds me of high school...)

Sound is great now.
