Title: Problem on some tracks
Post by: Scroobius on February 01, 2011, 07:40:02 pm
Hi Peter - This seems to be a strange problem. On the latter tracks of a very few of my albums. The music will be playing fine then some noise starts and then I get gaps in the replay and then another track starts to play then the sound returns to the correct track - but all along xx shows that the same track is playing (by looking at the file name below) and the track position bar is moving smoothly and correctly from left to right. This happens on maybe 4 or 5 albums out of my large collection. I have deleted the whole albums then re-ripped and the problem is exactly the same. I tried the albums as wav files and still the problem is the same (normally I use flac).

All the best

Paul

Paul, hi there.

Is this since 0.9z-4-0 ?

And with "the latter tracks" do you mean towards the end of the album ?

If it can be dedicated to two subsequent tracks, it may be an idea to FileMail them to me ?
If it needs the whole album you can do that too, but I'm not sure how I will survive testing this ... (so, maybe don't in this case).

Oh, how large is your SFS ?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter - First I have to say z4 is good - very, very good - even my wife agrees (so it must be a *real* improvement). The problem used to occur with 3 as well. I will check but the problem seems to be 2nd or 3rd track from the end of the album. Anyway towards the end of the album in all cases. SFS is 60 I will try it bigger/smaller to see if that makes any difference and let you know. I will also see if I can work out which track is switched to during replay relative to the track that is being played and also let you know. When I have tried the above I will see if you still want me to filemail you the tracks.

all the best

Paul

Hi Peter - I should have thought to check this before but I just opened one of the offending tracks in * Audacity * and clearly there is a problem with the way the track is ripped by EAC software. Played back through Audacity there is the same problem and I can see it on the screen the track plays for one minute then starts again and then after 2 minutes starts again. Clearly a "ripping" problem - strange will check out what is happening with EAC.

Apologies for the false alarm.

It would be interesting to know if anyone else has had the same problem.

All the best

Paul

Wasn't that Dual which could automatically replay an album ?

:)
