Title: engine #4 did not start in time
Post by: CoenP on June 10, 2012, 10:01:57 pm
This message keeps appearing after each album in the playlist. Annoyingly the music stops also. I am not aware that I changed anything in the setup. This is something of the last two weeks...

I remember having read some posts about this, but can't find them.

Anyone?

regards, Coen

G'day Coen,

whenever the search function within any forum fails to produce the results I want, I turn to Google for help.

The following link will bring up a list of threads that discussed "engine #4 did not start within expected time".

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=site:www.phasure.com+ENGINE+%234+DID+NOT+START+WITHIN+EXPECTED+TIME&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGLL_enAU385AU385&ie=UTF-8&hl=#q=site:www.phasure.com+ENGINE+%234+DID+NOT+START+WITHIN+EXPECTED+TIME&hl=en&rlz=1B3GGLL_enAU385AU385&prmd=imvns&ei=z0bVT_CQHuuaiQfEufX6Ag&start=10&sa=N&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=e38676279d329045&biw=1036&bih=569

Hopefully that will help a little until Pete arises.

Cheers,

Russ

P.S. I derived the above via Google ToolBar. Worth installing if you haven't.

Thank you Russ.

Hi Coen,

Since this will be about Attended, think about what you may have changed so any newly encountered album in the Playlist suddenly needs more "treatment". Could be Copy to XX Drive, could be Decode HDCD (while HDCDs are in there), could be Normalize Volume (with not earlier Normalized albums). Or maybe you play FLACs now while before it was WAVs.

But generally your system will be too slow in the disc I/O area to deal with that new album for which it has 14 seconds to prepare. Maybe you shortened the time your discs spin down and now they don't spinup (to the full revs) in time (they should do within the time span given (my discs are virtually always off)).

Those kind of things ...
Peter

Thanks Russ and Peter,

I do indeed play a mix of wavs and flacs in attended mode, but also I have put some new music on the musicdisc and it is now allmost full. Maybe that slowed the system down.
