After reported issues on OS latency,
People might want to reconsider their energie settings under power options (power plan), Low latency just asks for more energy at certain moments. XX low asking latency settings, could wel exceed some standard BIOS or windows energy settings on several systems. Using more energy could give that ultra low latency mode you are looking for.(without drop outs)
Just wanted to add this, Because it seems logic to me, that asking more and faster responsiveness from OS, also takes (create) more energy (spikes). So "balanced (recommended)" energy setting maybe is not sufficient enough, you can try to use "High performance" instead.
Peter what is your response to this matter ?
OS (or PC) Energy and low Latency are highly related in subject of glitch free playback of xx.

Thanks Mani. I've got a cable on order. Not being in a position to audition them, I am willing to defer to an Audiodidact . I didn't forgot you, Will build this week and one for myself too, I still have a six-pack WBT next-gen lying around. So I will mod my juli@ with a WBT spdif output and use coax instead of Toslink. I always have used this cable myself, but since the juli@ has no decent RCA connection. so therefore I stayed on Toslink connection. I think the change will be pretty dramatic. Hope you will experience the same and that your next digital cable will be an I2S Roy

Peter,
Can there be an option (code) to select an album. You can use buttons (macro's) to scroll thru gallery, this goes pretty fast, but there is no means to select an album (or track). Can you imply this somehow, together with maybe a button (AHK) to select Library section, WITH "auto blue highlight" the upper album in the Library section so you also can select an album from there.
Hope this makes sense ?

If you use the ←↕→ buttons (also AHK) you actually can scroll thru the library, but you can not select an album when a folder is blue highlighted, there should be an "enter" button to select album, somehow This is missing Also EventGhost is a nice program ! This could be an option too AIRMOUSE

Those Gigabyte Boards are kinda overclockers boards, That means lots of buttons (or settings) to fiddle around with. Also there are power settings in BIOS to play with (undervolt, underclock) Also better copper-lines on mobo for cleaner powering And the list goes on.......
As you understand those boards have capabilities to our needs;
"Complicated" as in your words, accually means more possiblities to turn stuff off This is a good thing and they are not that expensive.
Gigabyte sells good stuff and have great service ! But hey thats just my opinion !
Don't worry much about "horsepower", a decent dual-core will do fine. (or for that matter almost any combo will do) For the feeling of "instand" and lesser power consumption get a SSD drive to put your OS on.

What's really strange though is that according to Windows, I have two different core speeds! Anyone know what's going on here?
Mani
Hi mani, I believe it says that its a 3.33Ghz processor that RUNS at 2.67Ghz. Do you have your processor underclocked ? Otherwise check BIOS for actual values, or run cpu-z If *all* is already at your wanted settings, just ignore it. (or it tells you the truth and you are actual running at 2.67Ghz) But thats just what you are doing, underclocking, right? 330.30 x 8 = 2.6664 Ghz Roy

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / My latency has gone bananas

Something is really wrong,
I get glitches all over the place, DPC latency checker is completly red, with sometimes a little green. But this is when xx is not even playing, hence *its* off. (normal DPC values between 7-15us)(now its over 10.000) Now even foobar won't play without glitches. What the hell happened here.
xx also crashed on me this morning, had to do a new install, because the overall behavior went in slowmotion (not responsive)
Processor core gets a lot warmer than normal. (raises 10 degrees C)(Pc idle at 50 C, normally blow 40 C) Don't like this behavior at all !!!
Even opening a internet page creates a spike in latency of 7500us ! Sometimes hdd's go on or off, without reason.
What the heck
Roy

FYI Peter, this glitch keeps happening to me. Hovering the mouse restores it.
Hi Telstar, This has always been the case in W7, didn't gave it much thought. Why do you think its a glitch, does it bother you in any way. Don't know if this still happens, but will keep an eye on this Is this only when xx plays....? Roy

Peter, Russ, Do like what I hear now, it needs more investigation, but first impressions are very good. Q = -1 in special mode works best for now if I go lower I will get clicks and pops. (at attended) For the first time I like KS for all music......but again these are just todays findings. Have to find the absolute boundaries of all settings. Glad you didn't gave up on KS, Peter. I know It took you lots of work, but I think It did pay of in the end. Good Job
