Still no luck here with 9y--501. With split file size at 12, I crash and get the blue screen with: IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal.

Good God I hate fucking fruitcake! Rotting fruit, yuck.

But, thanks, the music here is best yet. (I 'm also experiencing the huge difference V-Caps have made in my tube amp.......blissmush not fruitcake. Happy )
 grazy whistle thankyou

One more post on this and i'll stop. 9y-4 with 2x arc prediction is very similar to 9-y5 without arc prediction: they have a digital feel with what feels like more of an emphasis on the top end. 9y-5 is much more natural sounding, the music is smoother and sweeter if not as enhanced as the others; it certainly is not as loud either. It seems balanced so that the the high and mid ranges get lost in each other until they are not. Happy Very natural sound. I love it.

Now all of this comes from one whose delta sigma shouldn't sound better with arc prediction. But I'm just sayin.......

Not just because I can't get kernel streaming to work, the topic of this thread should be 9y-5 arc prediction versus everything else. Don't know about quad but 2x is the most natural sound I've heard in any kind of playback format. sh*t, I am bottoming out the volume.....Thanks Peter.

Cause its early morning here am listening at a low volume; however, engine 3 with arc prediction is definitely softer or maybe not quite as loud as engine 3 with arc prediction turned off. Need more volume to know which is preferred.  9y-5

Hey Russ, do you notice much of a difference between Engines 3 and 4 in 9y--5? Just wondering.

I tried a different device but got the same result.  BTW m2tech will be releasing its wasapi driver soon. So, with either wasapi or kernel streaming something should work out!
1103  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Does hiFace sound card work with XX? on: January 13, 2010, 04:59:16 pm
Marco at M2tech has emailed me that the wasapi driver, which is bit perfect, will be released any day. One way or another, I think the Hiface will work out; its just gonna take a little time.

One other thing, for media Monkey I had to download Steve Monks kernel streaming plug in. I assumed that engine 4 would be "that plug in" for xx.

In Media Monkey it works and the name of the device is: HIFACE Kernel Streaming. That's why in my first post with the screen shot I thought I had to get rid of the second line of the name, the sigmatel stuff. That device is for an sigmatel spdif connection that does not exist on my system, there is not an spdif output jack on my computer. Maybe I should try renaming another device?
1106  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 9y--5 and Engine 3 on: January 13, 2010, 12:21:24 pm
Hi Peter, engine 3 in 9y-5 sounds good. Is it right to assume that the Q1 slider is at its default and that its value is 14? Just wondering.

John, in my first post when I said I switched to engine three and it sounded good, that meant I had to go back to the m-audio and not the highface for sound. Engine 3 is wasapi.

Morning. well a crash here is a crash: blue screen, white lettering and messages like: Windows must shut down Memory_Management or IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal. Other times I wasn't given messages, the computer just shut down. Attached are some log files of playing with no sound and crashes.
1109  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Help with Kernel Streaming. on: January 13, 2010, 02:46:53 am
Split file size at 50 to 20, I didn't go lower, caused XX to play but there was no sound. "Dac needs" was set at 24, 32 caused a crash. Scheme one was ticked, no appointment caused a crash. Engine #3 in 9y--5 sounds good.....going back to it now  Happy

Thanks Peter. Sleep well.

Unfortunately it doesn't work here (yet?). Whether at 24 0r 32 bits (device is), my computer completely crashed when I hit play. Hopefully great solutions will pursue you while you sleep.
