Title: Vista Track Data issue
Post by: datawolf on January 30, 2008, 12:47:21 am
Hi,

Jsut moved to Vista and XXHE stops after every 2 or 3 songs and the follwoing 3 error messaages are displayed.

1. No Track Data Received
2. No Track Data Given
3. Egine #3 did not start within the expected time

I never got this behaviour under WinXP Pro Spk2.

What does it all mean and can I 'fix' it?

Roni

Hi Roni,

What kind of connection do you have to your disks (like 100Mb Ethernet, USB2.0 etc.) ?

What type on tracks do you play (like WAVm FLAC) ?

Peter,

Im playing flac files from a local sata Seagate Barracuda.
It's the same disk as I used on the other Win XP system.
Strange huh!

Ok, what I can see is that this would happen when the file length is "improperly" registered in the FLAC file. Note though this could be me calculating things wrongly. So :

Could you please try whether this happens similarly with normal WAV files ? (and better not create a WAV file from your FLAC files because it could end up in the same anomaly).

Note that the XP Engines (1 and 2) are more robust, and are better capable of recapturing from actually wrong data.

Hi Peter,

I see this problem sometimes too.
Mostly I use attended mode to see what's happening.
It happens I think when the song has ended, but still the sliding bar is not finished, maybe still at 90%.
Looks like you do some calculation with the wrong numbers  ;)
After a restart it's over again.

I think this is very helpful.
In fact I noticed too that since one or two versions ago it happens more than before. And indeed ... something has changed in this area ...

Thank you.
