Hey Tore!,

Sorry for being so tiring repeating the same thing again. If I were you Iīd buy the PCIe card that I recommended in a previous post, the same one also others use here, it is only 9GBP and works perfectly with the MSI Big Bang-XPower II Renesas USB 3.0 Driver 2.0.34.0 that you can download here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=145471&t=0&i=2

Try it and if it works in your computer at least youīll know that the problem is in your Buffalo PCIe and not in the computer.

Cheers,
Juan

Allow me Juan,

Quote
You could use a powered USB 3.0 hub for the Playback drive (key) or use the RAMDisk as Playback Drive.

This may be a bit too fast, that "or use the RAMDisk". It is an option of course, but it should be an option to choose from at all times. Not prohibit yourself from it (by choosing a certain combination in advance).
But I'm sure that's how it was meant ! Happy Happy

Peter

Yes Peter, you are right, must be an option open to both possibilities. Sorry if I havenīt expressed myself correctly. As you can see in my signature I can use both, the external hdd and the RAMDisk. The USB 3.0 PCIe I have has only two ports, when I need more ports for whatever reason I use the USB 3.0 hub. At this moment Iīm using only the RAMDisk, that means that I only use one port from the PCIe as my music is in an internal hdd (and in an internal SSD for Galleries). Iīm trying to experiment with the most simple possible setup, that means as less possible devices connected and the result so far is a very clean sound.

Best regards,
Juan

Hi Juan!

I have seen that 4 port card and it have wrong chip

I want 4 ports for NOS1, USB key (playback drive), HDD (music) and USB bluetooth (keyboord/mouse)

Tore

You could use a powered USB 3.0 hub for the Playback drive (key) or use the RAMDisk as Playback Drive. Donīt need more than 2 USB 3.0 ports and the hub. Now Iīm only using one port, the one for the NOS1, and the sound is fantastic.

Hi Tore,

This is the one I use and the sound is beatuful and no problems at all: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004S0Y9FK/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details

There is other four ports card but read the reviews: http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-USB-Ports-Express-Card/dp/B005LV3Z0A/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1353332152&sr=1-3

Sorry Peter but would you tell me once more where is your Music Pc?. I like to consult it once in a while but I forgot where you posted it and seems impossible to find it. I know that I asked before and believe me I didnīt want to ask again but there is no way to get where it is.
Would you please place it in a visible place here in the forum? dntknw

Thank you George for sharing your experience with the RAMDisk as Playback Drive.

I wrote about my experience using Playback Drive in RAMDisk versus in other hdd in a new topic but I better post it here:

Playback Drive in RAMDisk (4Gb, exFat, allocation size 512 bytes):
Smoother, a little veiled in some albums, not as a general rule, detailed but without emphasis in the detail, bass not so tight, easy listening if you're not paying close attention and you are listening for a long period of time. Beautiful sound.

Playback Drive in an external hdd (WD5003ABYX):
Detailed, with more presence, more controlled bass, a feeling of closer to the real thing. To listen if you want to hear whatīs going on in the recording and how was it recorded. Sometimes the sound seems to be a little hard.

Both ways produce great sound and the differences are not night and day. The preferences depends on your system tendencies, if it is toward the cool side Iīd rather the RAMDisk option, on the other hand if your system tendency is a little dark Iīll choose the external hdd. If you think that your system is quite neutral Iīd take the external drive option also.

Other way to take one option over the other depends on the kind of music you are listening applying the same criteria as before.

Exactly the same here.
I thought it was something with new VGA driver I installed while PC was brought to 'normal', but now looks somehow RAMDRIVE related (?)

Hey George (nik.d),

Would you please let me know your opinion about the use of RAMDisk as Playback Drive in your system?   Happy

Iīm receiving a message when XXHE starts to play:

ChangeWP

Error setting the Wallpaper: A generic error ocurred in GDI+

I canīt see anything wrong, so I donīt know what that does mean.

It is the coincidental getting together of Phase Alignment engagement and the showing of the Wallpaper at first (I should have a protection against that in there yes).
Change the SFS a little helps (you won't want that) and set the SFS Rounds to another value will also help (you won't want thet either. swoon).
Making the system more slow ?
nea

Peter

I realized that it only happens the first time after a computer reboot, so no problem so far.

Thanks,
Juan

Seasonic are among the best PSU, fanless or not.
We are discussing two different issues at the same time: Good fanless PSU and if the PSU are originally built by the brand name itself.
Of course I agree that e.g. Seasonic and Corsair are one of the best PSU no matter if they are made by their own brand name or by others.

Hi Peter,

Do you mean that we have to copy the XX folder to the RAMDisk?, I understand that it was when we were using the RAMDisk as the disk where XX was residing but now we only want to use the RAMDisk for Playback Drive. That seems a quite complicated process. If the only problem is to maintain the name of the Playback Drive I rather to write it again and create also the Folder inside each time I have to reboot the computer. Or I missing something?.
