Title: XXHighEnd Model 0.9y-1d (more stable 0.9y version)

Download is at the bottom.

See for general Release Notes on 0.9y, 0.9y-1.

As it looks like, this is a more stable version compared to the previous 0.9y versions. Could be even "rather stable".

The following things have been changed :

  • The setting "Copy to XX-Drive by standard" (Settings Area) now should work, and should not interfere anymore with those situations where it is not needed at all (like a conversion taking place).

  • When a track was Paused or the volume was changed (at Unattended), all next tracks would start at the time offset the (e.g.) Paused track was at during that (e.g.) Pause. Solved.

  • Pause at Unattended, followed by Play, would often restart the track at the beginning. It is not said that this now works in 100% of cases, but it sure works better again.

  • Playback tend to stall for a second right after playback and the Wallpaper coming up. It is hard to check whether this is now allright in 100% of cases, but it sure is better. Please report if this still bothers, but try to repeat it (usually Quit XXHighEnd one time when it is not playing) and with what type of file it happens.

  • The OSD Text tends to go through XXHighEnd itself, when "Start Engine3 during conversion" (Settings Area) is ticked, while XXHighEnd is not ready with the conversions, but playback already starts. There is a provision for this now, and when XXHighEnd is really finished, teh OSD Texts will be re-shown.

  • When playback is finished (Unattended) XXHighEnd is brought up automatically. Before this didn't go along with restoring the Wallpaper and Desktop Icons (e.g. a click on Stop was needed). Now this goes automatically.

  • Starting a Playlist for Unattended, no selection, causes the tracks processed (prepared) being highlighted. However, the very first track in the Playlist Area never did (actually that is always selected to start with, and then gets unselected). Solved.

  • As a consequence of the above : when a track at Attended got towards the end, it got unselected, awaitening the next task to start while playback of it was still going on, and at the start of the next track, that gets selected. Now, the first track gets unselected right when the next track starts playback.
Notice that this is, of course, more normal behaviour, but in the mean time the "information" of when a next track starts to load has gone now. No big deal.

  • Because of technical reasons it was not allowed to change the Digital Volume from or to -0dB during playback. These technical reasons have been eliminated since 0.9y, so changing the volume during playback to and from -0dB is just allowed now.

  • A situation has been found that could cause a track to stop Playback before its end (Attended only). This has been eliminated.
Since this problem has been reeported but the behaviour could never be copied, this is so far solved in theory only; Were you bugged by this, please let know either wether this helps or whether it does not. Note that this is a problem originating from March 2009. When similar started to happen at 0.9y this is just another problem (definitly solved).

  • Tooltips have been actualized.

  • When a Format Change happened (when allowed per its setting in the Settings Area) a crash of XXEngine3.exe occurred. This is now solved.
NOTE : Because of the kind of program change tis required, this should be tested again by someone owning a 24 bit-only device, like the Empirical Off-Ramp.

  • When a track is not played (Attendedly) the Info tab does not show data anymore. This is related to the now ability to browse through the playlist without accessing the original disks, hence waiting for them to wake up when spun down. This is now solved by showing the data in the Info tab (not the track length for now) after a track in the Playlist has been clicked. So, only a clicked track shows its data there (and during normal Attended playback of course).
Notice that the track length never shows right in there (to be solved).

A repeat from earlier Release Notes :

Very important :  Only when AutoHotkey has been installed, and is at least working to the extend XXHighEnd can be startup with a hotkey (default is Alt-X), it is allowed to tick the checkbox "Stop Services" in the Settings Area, and use Unattended Playback mode (checkbox at the bottom of the main screen). For AutoHotkey See AutoHotkey Install (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=724.msg5220#msg5220). When this is not done, hence XXHighEnd can not be brought up with a hotkey, at Unattended Payback - no desktop icons will be visible, no Taskbar will be there, no Startbutton will be around ... nothing. You might, however, may be able to use the "Windows" key which will bring up the Start Menu and find something in there to find your ways again. So, be careful, or maybe you will not be able to do anything, except for listening out the playlist concerned, and wait until that finishes and XXHighEnd will popup automatically, which by itself will bring back everything.
A reboot is a solution as well.

This all sounds more dangerously than it really is, and with the hotkeys available there is really nothing to fear.
And remember the objective : better Sound Quality.
