Title: Great Sax Players and Great Good Fortune
Post by: Scroobius on February 17, 2016, 10:39:22 am
By great good fortune I found out through a friend that two of the very finest sax players were performing just a short walk from where I live last night. It was a rare privilege to see these two greats of Jazz performing together at the local Foreign Legion club. For a measly £10 entry fee and with cheap beer on sale this was an opportunity not to be missed.

Peter King played with Jean Toussaint and the Frank Toms Trio and it was awesome. A memorable version of Autumn Leaves and a fantastic blues (Pursuance) from John Coltrane's A Love Supreme stand out from an excellent set.

And as if that is not enough for one week on Thursday it is  Wayne Shorter with Wynton Marsalis, at the Barbican (but not for £10 this time and beer won't be cheap !!!).

Great week for live music!! Sometimes I think that there is a God!!.

-Schooled world class jazz musicians play on small club scenes for pocket money, while Justin Bieber and such fill stadiums, with pricey tickets, playback and Autotune.

... Like 350 euros as how it is here in Holland ...

(the other day I witnessed a niece of 11 years old forcing that amount from her mother)
