One other example which is NOT meant to make it personal, but to indicate how difficult things can be, which not everybody can see, including yourself : You are as far as I can tell the only one who could not get the 1.04 driver going. You said you applied all. But you did not and instead skipped the XXHighEnd settings at first. I know (your system shows that). This, btw, is when I told you that "sequences" are as important as applying the subjects involved in the first place.
Hi Peter, This statement is not correct, see http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3185.msg34653#msg34653 on: 2015, May 11. http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3237.0 on: June 07, 2015, http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3248.0 on: June 09, 2015 Joachim

Hi Peter, thanx for your post. The beginning with W10 build 10074 was not very successful for me and I stopped with the “trials” after this post. http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3286.msg35516#msg35516The installation of XXH 2.02 on the RTM W10 build 10240 was “a piece of cake” on an “AUDIO ALONE PC” and the sound was very good. What failed was the conversion to “Minimize OS” where I ended up with a) a creation of a restore point was not possible with XXH (this note came from XXH) and b) with a black screen and a white mouse pointer. Due to the situation that the “Minimze OS” procedure failed on my system, I fumbled with the “audio optimization” of W10 by shutting down services etc., but with my limited experience there would never be an amazing SQ on my system. You mentioned with Reply#21 on the forum that it is not your intention to make double work with the “Minimize OS” procedure for the RMT W10 ( http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3303.msg35693#msg35693 ), and so a search in the internet started and ended with Fidelizer Pro. This program is a replacement of your “Minimize OS” procedure, works flawlessly, and I have the best sound ever on my system. Very analog without any digital glare. This program handles the “core appointment” differently, and the system (OS) slows down (with full intention) a little in favour for the SQ, and that is noticeable. The software W10 build 10240 + XXH 2.02 + RAMdisc + foreign OS minimizer is running without any problems on my “audio only PC” and the SQ exceeds my expectations. (no remote control from another PC + music replay in attended mode only) I do believe a lot audiophiles are waiting for a XXH update for RTM W10. See Reply#10 - http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3305.msg35741;topicseen#msg35741The main message is, XXH 2.02 creates the best SQ on my system ever.Joachim

Hi,
since the “Minimize OS” procedure is not working under W10 (build 10240) on my laptop, I bought “Fidelizerpro“ and everything is working flawlessly ( with “no core appointment” in XXH 2.02), and, what a great sound. Never heard these details of the cymbals and snare drums on my system. When somebody faces the same problem under W10 (build 10240) this program is a strong recommendation.
Joachim
P.S. The conversion from FLAC to WAV (to be seen with bigger 96KHz files) is more slowly than before. (other CPU/core balance via “MMCSS”?)

Hi,
attached you will find a reliable program to shut down/disable the Defender within W10 build 10240 for sure.

You agree that everybody - including yourself - who runs into troubles is directed to you, right ? Peter Huh, aha, W10 build 10240 is running without any hiccups on the laptop since days. The requirement is, XXH 2.02 and a RAM disc program shall be installed on the AUDIO PC only. The keyword is AUDIO PC, no other programs shall be installed. I'm not using a tablet, so the laptop is a "stand alone unit". If somebody will install/run XXH 2.02 on a laptop or PC (with W10 -10240) with the a.m. preconditions questions are welcome. Joachim

Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Serious Listening With Low SPL Only?
|

This is an interesting point of view, found here: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews2/molamola/4.html- QUOTE - The very best and also shortest way to explain that benefit is to turn the volume down. Playing loud (within reason of course) is easy. The sound blooms and gets most robust. Playing quietly is far harder. Now the sound tends to collapse and wash out. Not with the Kalugas. They enveloped us in an aural illusion with maximum addiction potential. The proof was being able to play at the lowest perceivable SPL late at night when everything was quiet, even the birds, with our fridge temporarily unplugged to drive down all interior noise to the absolute minimum. Under these most challenging of possible circumstances, the Kalugas still triggered all our emotional sensors. Listening at low volume says so vastly more about a hifi’s true potential than SPL orgies. It also far more convincingly closes the gap between recording and audience. High SPL for serious listening don’t work. They very quickly numb our senses. Getting truly intimate is a matter of nuance and fine cues which attract and repel like turning magnets. That’s when music matters. Here Kaluga proved to be the ultimate go between. Its capabilities to make the air in the room move and excite the ancient ear/brain connection was uncanny; and worked with any speaker we tried. Our time with Kaluga made up for the very long time we waited for Kaluga. Damn was this good! When amplifiers get out of the way like these do, there really is nothing more to say. Anything more would be about added personality and the license of an inaccurate interpreter... - Unquote - Joachim

Hi Joachim, I don't know what you want exactly, but ... A totally destructive 10240 build is the same to me as a simillar build of 10074. Both are as unusable for normal practice work. correctAnd now you want me for fun to sit down for XX days to have 10240 going ? FOR FUN ... do you receive ? Can you explain to me what the reason is that you are using the RTM (10240) ? The installation of 10074 failed two times, but the 10240 installation was a piece of cake Lastly, do you realize that you are removing programs one by one etc. etc. to improve SQ, which all has already been done (by me so to speak) for 10074 ? But use MinOS. MinOS failed in W10 and I had a black screen and reinstall W10; now I would delete the NVIDIA program prior to MinOSSo seriously, I am lost somewhat on what you are attempting, and why. But of course you are going to tell me ... Best regards, Peter Hi Peter, see my reply in red letters above. The other concern with build 10074 is, what will happen after the expiry date in September. Did someone simulate this, or is there a solution .......... ? Joachim

It is OF NO USE.
UUH, don’t give up – the W10 (10240) SQ on my system is superior to W8. Most sound problems with W10 are coming up in conjunction with the “Cortana” program, and that program we have to disable. There are some sites in the internet with proposals such as: http://superuser.com/questions/949569/can-i-completely-disable-cortana-on-windows-10 (This is not working) W10 on the AUDIO PC is stable since 5 days and I installed XXH 2.02, the NOS1 USB driver, an Intel video driver (for the embedded “video card” on the processor) via the W10, the PRIMO ram disc, the Phasure OCX file and Firefox browser only. Deleted have been the “NVIDIA” (video driver) and “Realtec” (audio driver) programs. The audio PC is not connected to the internet and no updates are implemented, and a lot of services are disabled (maybe not all) which we don’t need. Peters Q1 to Q5 settings are not working with 8Gb RAM systems, it seems. I tested Q1=14 /0/0/0 in the beginning, but the highs are a little bit too harsh. Now I have Q1=6 and /1/2/1/ and the SQ is smoother. My conclusion: W10 is running quite well on AUDIO PC’s (with audio related programs only) with a great SQ. Joachim P.S. Somebody simulated (via the BIOS) the behavior of build 10074 with the “expiry date” on September ?

I have a question if I run a second OS drive is it possible for W10 ver 10074 os to upgrade while I'm running in the latest OS W10 ver?
Hi Robert, with the installation of W10 build 10240 on a separate HDD/SSD (SSD with 120GB= < €100) you will have a "dual boot system" and both OS are running independent from each other (you have to decide with the bootmanager that whether you want to work with build 10074 or build 10240). So, nothing changes your present settings in 10074 disconnected from the internet. Joachim

Hi Joachim, thanks for your W10 test. I'm not sure if at any time you have tested also the 10074 version, if so, I would like know how you compare the two versions.
Best regards, Juan
Hi Juan, the installation of the build 10074 failed on my laptop, so I couldn't compare. Joachim
