Title: 6a skips the last piece of the last song in the playlist
Post by: LydMekk on April 09, 2009, 10:39:01 am
As stated in the heading. When I load several songs into the playlist and start playing: when ca. in the middle of the last song, the player stops without playing the last couple of minutes of that last song.

This is attended. WAVs 16/44. No matter which songs/albums, same problem.

Do you, by accident, know whether that happens with 2 tracks only ?

Testing with only 2 songs now...

The same with 2 songs. The arrow on the bottom is left standing at the end of the last song and the current song is no longer marked in grey/blue in the playlist.

Thank you for trying !

I can't copy this ! I have tried :

- First a small track then a longer.
- Both so they fit in the "Split File at Size".
- Both so they not fit in the "Split File at Size".

- First a long track then a smaller.
- Both so they fit in the "Split File at Size".
- Both so they not fit in the "Split File at Size".

I don't know of any other relevant combinations ...

You didn't check that Debug checkbox (Settings Area), did you ? (if that at all was in 0.9x-6a ... it is in 0.9x-6b for sure)
Also, you didn't combine XXHighEnd with "another" XXEngine3 ? (meaning : both are from one consistent download ?)

If all is right at your side, I need both the XX and the X3 log files ...

No Debug field in 6a. Logging now, will post shortly.

Ah, thanks ! I've made attachments from it, because I may need them more often next to eachother in notepads and this is more convenient. Doesn't look that wild either. :)

Uhm, but LydMekk, all I can see on these files is that all played normally. Of course I need log files from when it goes wrong.

Or did it here ? If it did, please tell me what just happened (I know you already told it). I must see consistency with those log files ...

Edit : Forgot to tell, here they play (same tracks) normally with your exact settings ...
Another question : when it goes wrong, did you load the whole album and deleted the other tracks from the Playlist, or did you just load those 2 only. If the latter, how ?

It DID go wrong, same as stated earlier in the thread. The posted logs are the logs from the last attempt, WITH failure.

You haven't moved to SP1 yet? What's this: the stoneage? :))

Wouldn't it be better if you had the same environment as the rest of your users? Guess over 90% is on SP1 by now...a year ago wasn't it? LOL

Title: Re: 6a skips the last piece of the last song in the playlist
Post by: LydMekk on April 10, 2009, 08:29:20 am
Again, it's only the LAST track whos failing. The Track(s) earlier in a playlist plays normally.

Post by: PeterSt on April 10, 2009, 08:36:29 am
Can you please tell exactly what happened in the occasion with the log files ?
Where there only two tracks to play ? etc.

Your earlier story does not go along with the log files ...
All I can see (from your earlier story !) is that The Girl in the Other Room is the last track, and that played ...

Btw, I run Windows Tenturion. This is a secret and therefore not in my sig. Nobody has it yet.

I'm still on SP0. If anyone can give me some definitive proof that it is going to be beneficial from a sound quality perspective I'd consider putting on SP1, but until that time I'll remain status quo. I come from the 'if it ain't broke .. don't try and fix it' school.

Perhaps a poll might be useful to see who is running what.

Cheers,

Russ

LydMekk, for when you are back ... this is what I am doing :

Clear the Playlist (Clear button), load those two Diana Krall tracks in there via Load Individual Tracks (rightclick on Library Item) (the times here are exactly the same as yours, so I guess it's the exact same album), select the first track, and press Play.

With your settings it plays right through the end.
Do you do it differently ?

I have a newer version of course, but I don't recall I changed anything in that area. But you might try 0.9x-7 (will be there later today).

Thanks as awlays,
Peter

Thx P. Testing with version 7 now.

Just pulling your leg somewhat with SP1...coming from a point of view that SPs are correcting bugs as I am a IT Tech myself and see what better results come from installing servicepacks...

The SP1 "flows*" better and is less "jerky", better multitasking etc. than SP0 inVista. My 2c.

Will post when the test run has concluded.

Tested now with version 7. Same problem. Did as you asked over with the two same tracks.

Observed it the last minute on the last track.

When about 10-20 seconds is remaining, the player goes abruptly silent but the progress pointer keeps moving. Just before the player goes silent the blue/gray marking in the playlist (which is marking the songs whos active) dissapears.

And again, this only happens with more than one track in the list and only with the last track in a playlist, no matter how many has been selected.

Again, plain EAC WAVs 16/44 CD-tracks.

Title: Re: 6a skips the last piece of the last song in the playlist
Post by: LydMekk on April 10, 2009, 09:07:20 pm
Observation: When playing the two tracks mentioned, when at number one, I tried to add another, e.g. third track to the list.

What then happens when track 2 comes to an end, the progress pointer skips to the next song...but keeps playing number 2 to completion before starting track 3. But the progress bar is already 15 percent into track 3 when track 3 starts audibly...

Then track 3 nears completion, it nearly plays all the way, but goes silent around 5-10 percent from completion. But the progress bar goes to the end though...LOL.

Ok. I'll see whether I can make something of this. Again, thanks !

Title: Anyone NOT having this problem ?
Post by: PeterSt on April 15, 2009, 11:42:12 am
I'm addressing those who play Attended from off 0.9x-6a ...

Is there anyone else noticing that playback stops half through the last track in the Playlist ?

Or the other way around

Is there anyone out there who clearly never sees this problem ?

LydMekk has it by standard, so it seems hard to miss it, once you have this problem.
Please let me know for either situation. I must have comparisons, or otherwise the implicit indication that it must be LydMekk's system somehow.

Many thanks.
Peter

PS: Those using Unattended and who are willing to spend a few minutes could try Attended for two tracks in the Playlist and try ...
In that case, switch on logging in advance so you don't have to do it again, while I'll be wanting to see those log files for those where it goes wrong. So if it goes wrong and you are happy to report about it, please attach those log files as well (XX and X3).
If it does not go wrong, it is as important to know, and I think I even want to see the log files in that case, for comparison.

Using 6c.
No stops here, except for very rare "no track" error popup.

Loading an album in the playlist area and give a play command in attended mode.

What i see is the start of the progression indicator without sound for a couple of seconds. When the progression indicator reaches the end of the first track i hear the music still playing. The progression indicator start at the beginning of the second track while the first track is still playing. I can see that behaviour also in the playlist area. The second track is highlighted while XX plays the end of the first track.

But no skip of tracks. (Yes i know i have loaded a complete album. I will do the test for two tracks)

After loading 2 track via the Library button and during playback the third one. Progression indicator starts to fast (without sound) at the and of track one the progression indicator is in the second track. When the progression indicator is at the end of the third track the music suddenly stops!!  Conclusion the progression indicator is 5-7 seconds faster then the sound. And when the indicator is at the end XX skips the last piece of the last song in the playlist.

Hi Peter,

I normally use XXHE in unattended but as a test for you I play a couple of albums in attended mode just now and all seemed to behave normally here. That's with 0.9x-7

I have attached the logs that session generated as you wished.

Cheers,

Russ

Thanks guys, but it doesn't help me ... Johan, your problem probably is there, but it is incurred for a slow(er) load speed, which I just have not. So I can't copy that. But it is (or seems) another problem anyway.

LydMekk, could you do me another favor;
Take a track of around 6 minutes, look how long it exactly is, start it, press a stopwatch or something when you hear the music start (have a track that starts rather sudden so you can hear it properly), and measure until the music stops (best again would be a clear ending).
Now please tell me how long that track should be accoring to the mm:ss it indicates, and how many seconds it is off (+ or -).

Thanks,
Peter

PS: By now I must have tried everything, but I can't let it happen. Anyone want to buy The Girl in The Other Room from me ? (or the first two tracks at least :bored:)

Probably related to this,

x7 doesnt like to play the last song in the playlist, when i select it and then hit play - it plays the FIRST instead!
Happened most of the times with another computer yesterday.

AFAIK 6c didnt do this.

With how many tracks in the Playlist is that ?

Post by: LydMekk on April 21, 2009, 11:24:30 am
This isn't related to Diana Krall...lol

Whatever tracks I try it's the same problem with the last track and the progress bar getting ahead of itself...

All are 16/44 WAVs though.

But can you please answer my question ? ...

Edit : I didn't ask for a particular track or album. You can pick what you like, as long as it is around 6 minutes.

With how many tracks in the Playlist is that ?

Few. 4, then 7-8.

I think I found this ... at last. Still never happened to myself which I thus far can't really explain. Anyway, I really hope is is solved for you in the next version (0.9-y1a or 0.9y-2).
