Of course, especially for Mani - because he always asks - there will be 10 parameters which 256 settings each. Sounds great! Thanks. But yes, that should be able to create a few channels for frequency bands … But the DAC has only 2 channels - surely we need 6 channels in order to output 3 bands per L/R channel. What am I missing or misunderstanding? Mani.

Much as I'm sure the next version of XX will be amazing, what I'd really love is: - 3-band phase-accurate ('Phase Sure' ) crossover built into XX - 'NOS2' DAC with separate low/mid/high BNC outputs per channel (2x 1704s per band = only 12 in total!) Too much to ask? Mani.

But as said, the manual procedure still works (if you still know how to apply that). Hi Peter, no, I can't remember how to do that. I'm not even sure if I've installed XX correctly - I have the feeling that there were a few things I should have done with the OS before/after. But being purely for 'Tidal preparation', I couldn't see that it would require anything (changing the UAC setting, for example). In any event, XX works, in that music plays in Normal/Attended through the DAC connected to the music server - not that I have much need for doing this really. Do you have an email you could fire across to me reminding me of how to activate manually? Mani.

So at this very moment obtaining a Code via PayPal also does not even work. Hey Peter, we're having some work done on the house (a new kitchen and a total rework of the garden) and the workers tripped a fuse to the circuit which powers my music server, causing W10 to start behaving strangely. After a couple of days of trying to repair W10 with various tools (with no luck) I tried to reinstall it on the same SSD. But it just wouldn't do it. Finally, I decided to buy a nice M.2 SDD and installed W10 freshly onto that. The upshot is that I've had to reinstall everything onto the new SSD, including the XX version that I use for preparing Tidal albums. But I can't prepare Tidal albums without XX being activated. Soooooo, do you have any idea when you might get the PayPal functionality working again? (No real urgency, as I can stream from Roon->HQPlayer->NOS1 for now. But of course, I'd like to enjoy the very best SQ at some point.) Cheers, Mani.

Yep, good to hear that people are still alive... and enjoying their music. There's been no tweaking here for... I can't really remember. Does this mean the sound here is now perfect? I don't think so. But I sit transfixed for the 20-30 mins a day I can get in my listening room. And I no longer search for 'well recorded' material. If it happens to be well-recorded, that's just a bonus. Lastly, Phasure can by now be renamed to The Cable Company or something like that... And to think that the last time I visited your place (many years ago now) you were still using 'bell wire' (or whatever) everywhere. Funny. Mani.

Using RDC, I've always logged on with the username XXHE and password xx for both the Mach II and III. I've never had any issues.
I find it strange that Paul's issue seems to have come from nowhere - I mean, it was all working perfectly before, right?
Mani.

Another quick update...
The sound has now 'blossomed' to easily the best I've ever managed to achieve during my time in this hobby... and in many ways, better than I've ever heard anywhere else. Describing what you hear in words is always difficult to explain, but I'll try.
The top-end is ultra, ultra clean, but not in an overly clinical way. It remains sweet (not sharp and edgy) and incredibly satisfying. There's a real sparkle to it. I think it has to do with two things: 1) the way things decay - for example, there's no overly-abrupt damping of cymbals - they seem to continue shimmering for ever, which gives a sense of naturalness, ease and real vibrancy to the sound 2) an ultra-low noise floor - there's a real blackness for the top-end to 'decay into' (if that makes any sense)
The mids are spectacular. The transient attacks make vocals and instruments totally life-like. - for example, the strings of a cello sound detailed and textured and yet the wooden body vibrates beautifully and sounds 'hollowed out', as opposed to sounding full of wool and dead
The bass is easily the best I've ever had in my room. The speakers naturally drop away below 40Hz (no ports or LF servo-assistance whatsoever), and yet even without the bottom octave, the sound remains balanced and very satisfying on all genres of music. Very tight and tuneful. You can feel a kick drum on your chest. Etc, etc.
Interesting, I can kill much of the magic by simply changing the power amps to any of the others I have here. I wonder if the attached specs of the amp might give a clue as to why? At 1 watt, the 200kHz square wave is almost perfect. At 1 watt, the noise floor lies at -135dB or so below 1 watt.
Mani.
