151  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXHE 0.9z-8-1: Win7 taskbar not returning (after quitting unattended play) on: January 20, 2013, 10:38:25 am
Hi Peter,

No, have not installed W7Shell - I'm still running Win7.

And definitly coverart is not related, it is album's photo file size. Tried z-8e with some new album and got the same: logo iof album photo/coverart: All my albums
contain 1 photo named 'Folder.jpg' with dimensions of 600x600 pixels. If file size is more than (not sure here) ~160-170kB, XXHE is not using it for wallpaper but
XXHE logo instead. Easy to solve - will reduce .jpg's quality Happy.
152  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / XXHE 0.9z-8-1: Win7 taskbar not returning (after quitting unattended play) on: January 19, 2013, 10:46:48 pm
Peter hi,

Returned OS to 'normal' and installed/registered z-8-1 w/out problem. While in unattended and after hitting Alt-S and Alt-X commands
all I get back on screen is Library window opened. No taskbar, no desktop icons, have to restart PC for that.

The other thing to report: cover art is not showing but XXHE logo instead.

Started z-8e again - complained somewhat on Win state but no other issues, normally returns desktop on stopping/exiting unattended.
Here again, no cover art but XXHE logo shown.

Thks in adv.

Very frequently SSD disks are assigned for pagefile duties.
This speeds up computer response enough plus it's easy to create pagefile same size as RAM.
Memory is the fastest option but I would not use it for paging - in XXHE context.

155  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: SFS Sound Quality Experiences on: November 13, 2012, 03:35:05 pm
Hi Juan,

The system I'm listening at the moment is not the one in my signature, my NOS1 is packed, waiting 'Lazy Me' to send it back to NL
for engine refreshing that will double the speed on the road. Some tuning, polishing and nice gadgets will be added of course  Cool

At the moment I'm listening my XXHE PC with HIFIMAN or GRADO headphones through some DIY DAC and DIY Headamp.
Usage of RAMDISK as Playback Disk is great 'revamp' by Georg - 'listening'.

It is clear improvement above all solutions I used. And I tried several.
- Internal Hitachi 300GB SATA2 HDD. Good (better SQ than w/out Playback Disk) but nothing special.

- PCI-to-USB3 card plus Transcend 16GB JetFlash 700 USB3 flash disk. Improved sonics, a bit dry sounding.
Big minus: have to wait for ages 'till music starts.

- Above PCI-to-USB3 was planned for fast, externally powered HDD, like the one Juan uses, WD's ABYX or new, FBYX series HDD's.
I was planning to get one, big capacity not needed, but I think...
- I'll stay with RAMDISK. Perhaps Peter will add some 'extra spice' but me happy as it is  yes
Big improvement. All instruments in recording(s) received appropriate, natural amount of energy.

NB:
I do not keep disk image (RAMDISK.iso) anymore thus have no delay in shutting down PC. You do not need this disk image at all.
Every time XXHE is closed, disk content (on Playback Disk) is deleted. You are keeping empty image. The only thing you have to do
after starting your PC and XXHE and before playback commences is confirming the warning message that disk content will be deleted.

If you have 16GB or more of RAM, there is no reason for not trying RAMDISK as your Playback Drive.

...I realized that it only happens the first time after a computer reboot, so no problem so far...
Exactly the same here.
I thought it was something with new VGA driver I installed while PC was brought to 'normal', but now looks somehow RAMDRIVE related (?)

All PSU's are produced by a relatively small number of 'real' manufacturers and than re-branded to different 'brands' or trade names.
Nice reading on "How to Discover Your Power Supply's Real Manufacturer" here:

159  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Minimized Mode for 09-z7-3 on: October 03, 2012, 11:38:26 am
Peter
This looks like what Gerard & I described already: XXHE can minimize OS only once, at first attempt.
If by any reason/need you want to return to Normal OS, on second and further attempts XXHE is not able
to stop any services or make change from Aero to Windows 7 Basic Theme.

Ivo
For the moment best practice is to make System Restore Point after activating XXHE and installing any SW you
may need (like WinRar etc.). Then follow Peter's advise on System Restore Point, reserving more disk space for
System Restore. Now create Restore Point naming it whatever you like. This restore point will serve as start
point in case anything goes wrong, you will have activated XXHE allways.

For the moment think you will need to re-instal OS again, shut off UAC (w/ restart of course) and reqest new
activation code. Before clicking Minimize OS, try all modes & memory organisation, incl. unattended mode.

160  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Minimized Mode for 09-z7-3 on: September 10, 2012, 10:39:40 am
With a new PC (which is what this comes down to) you alway need a new Activation Code. So, that part never changed ...
Peter
If you look earlier msgs in topic, I tried parallel installation z7-2 & z7-3 with z7-2 activation code.
Result: 'partly' registered/activated. Anyway this morning re-installed OS and all, made clean Restore Point.
Btw, thanks for very good advice on Restore Points

Sending request for new acti code.

Brgds!
161  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Minimized Mode for 09-z7-3 on: September 09, 2012, 11:27:00 pm
I've re-installed OS, mbd drivers, snd crd drivers etc.
Used reg. key received for z7-2. Before registering tried all options & settings (diff mem settings, Q1 etc)
XXHE is 'partly registered': can choose 'Proc. Appointment Scheme'(s) but not engage PA (no red top/bottom stripe, no *)
And still not able to minimize OS w/ XXHE.

Beer time...

162  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Minimized Mode for 09-z7-3 on: September 09, 2012, 04:17:40 pm
I have restore point @ day/time I installed OCX files and z7-2.
This restore point results in minimized OS and (registered) z7-2.
Returning system to Normal and trying to minimize again results with not minimized system.
Perhaps some older, from March2012.

163  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Minimized Mode for 09-z7-3 on: September 09, 2012, 01:36:03 pm
Same with me, 09-z7-3 does not minimize OS.

Before installing z7-3 started z7-2 (w/ OS minimized) and restored to original/standard WinOS.
Installed 09-z7-3, tried all & registered w/ code for z7-2. All passed OK.
Tried Unattended, all fine.
Went to minimize OS and system does not minimize.

Tried returning system into normal state (one more reboot) and this time started z7-2 -order to try minimize OS.
No go. All services active, wasapi, aero theme etc...

164  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z-7-2 OS doesn't minimise on: August 31, 2012, 08:46:06 am
Gd. morning

At first attempt to minimize I received "Error #1" msg in XXHE. Second attempt
few seconds later (after clicking away err message) succeeded w/out problem
