Title: Bug with long file names
Post by: Fidelio on November 05, 2009, 11:42:39 am
I have quite a few albums with long folder names, and the music files have long file names (classical music). XXHE won't display the covers for these in the browser area, and I can't add them to playing by clicking on them. I have to right click, choose load individual files, then I get a standard browser window pointed to the last album I was playing, and I have to manually fint the album with the long name and then add it.

Does XXHE have a problem with long names?

Example:

D:\XXHighEnd Musikk\Vivaldi, Antonio\Antonio Vivaldi -  New Discoveries - Modo Antiquo - F.M. Sardelli (FLAC)\10 - Mottetto 'Vos invito, barbarae faces' RV 811 for Contrallto and Strings, I. Allegro assai.flac

Fidelio,

I am not aware of anything you just said. But, one thing :
The example you gave is 209 characters long, and this is okay. The maximum for Vista however, is 260. So, if you reach that, this will be the problem. Of course keep in mind that your first part "XXHighEnd Musikk" is unnecessary long, might you indeed run into the maximum.

If you mean the "Library Area" (do you ?) ... I am not aware of anything like this, nor can I imagine how that would emerge. But tell me, is your given example a literal one, so if I'd create such a (literal) structure, it should go wrong ?

I guess the "Explore ..." function also goes to the wrong location ?

If you hover over such an Item, does the ToolTip text look complete ? if not, where is it cut ... or maybe there is no tooltip at all ?

Is this W7 perhaps ?

Peter,

Can there be (FLAC) in the filename, I think this can not be.
Or you maybe solved it already.

Fidelio, just remove (FLAC) out of the filename location and you have your coverart back, hehe :grazy:
And look in the Library section of xx and you will see that xx already puts (FLAC) there.
This could be causing the problem, I think.

The FLAC in the name was the problem! Thanks a bunch!

A real IQ test that, making the connection between FLAC in the file name and no coverart.

Even after reading this I only "discovered" it after the 3th time of looking at the path. But it is true.

Thank you Roy !
