I just ended two downloads from a cd who was ripped with EAC.... That's what they wrote.... And with that cd the (Length in error flac file came up.) EDIT: Also something really strange XX shows... The numbers who are giving this message do not play but you can load them in the playlist.... The length of al the tracks individueel and from both cd's they are 3:45.84But when i play them with mediamonkey they are NOT the track length that XX shows..... EDIT: Whaaaaa I dont understand it anymore..... The moment i am writing this XX Automaticly starts to play the numbers who gave the error message in the first time. XX now give first the error Message and when i click the error away then XX starts to play.

Also it would be nice that you can show my collection from two hard drives. Now its only possible to ad one hard drive. Gerard, note that theoretically you can do this now (0.9n) by means of creating a "main" Galery "All music", under which the data from both disks are created (2 minutes work I think). Also note that you can "copy" again from a Galery to another Galery, so that this "All music" Galery really can serve you here. Whether this is awkwardish for a solution I don't know. But anyway please note that another "more real" solution will give me sorting problems, hence that takes time to develop, and it can't have priority IMHO. Peter Hello Peter, You where talking about making a main gallery folder.... Do i than change someting definitly in the verkenner... Now it is good sorted.... Gerard........

Hello Peter, Can you tell us please when to expect flac support and ( i know i am saying something wrongish here) Mp3? 75 % of my collection is Flac/Wav and 25 % still is Mp3... Sometime's it does not matter to hear some Mp3... Speacially when its only background music... EDIT: I try to convert Mp3 to Wav but then XX did not play them.... Grtzzzzz.......

For throughput time it wouldn't matter. Besides that, maybe you don't want to use the Library features at certain times.
Note that one of the major problems is that the building up of the result can't be done in a separate "thread" and run parallel to anything else you are doing (but Engine#3 will keep on playing though). The stupid thing is that once the buildup is in it's own thread, the "main thread" will be free for adjusting the form with contents, then *that* holding up hugely.
That a form can't be stopped at receiving output is a dot-net failure, to which I so far did not find a solution. Documentation tells it works, but it just does not. But give me some time ...
Hi Peter, Whe where talking about the above for a few days ago, I had a little problem with reading what you wrote at last... ( So excuse me if your answer is a little bit the same like my question) I have another idea. Is it possible to make a checkbox next to search botton in the library tab. I mean when you check this, then ( when you programm this) xx willl load all the cd's automaticly from the place you put in the music root. ( when starting up) The idear behind that is that you wont have to do it manually anymore everytime. But if you like to do it you can uncheck the checkbox.... (90% of the time the music is coming from the same place) grtzzzz

Gerard, thank you for the sig. I don't think this is related to Gerner's problem. I can copy the behaviour you described. All is caused by too many presses of (e.g.) next within a short time. Will be solved in the next version ... Ah ok.... Than i will give it the next time something more fingerspitsengefühl!!! Grtzzzz

Hi Gerner,
If you could proove that this was not so with 0.9m I would be very happy to hear that. Or when 0.9m does not make a difference ... I'd be even more happy.
Peter
Hi Peter, I did not tell you yesterday but i had problems also. When i moved the time cursor XX gave the message "Device cannot allocated, reason unknown". When i try to stop en after that start xx again the message still came up. I had to restart the computer... After that i had another problem. When i (possibly) to fast pusht the next button. Than xx did not do anything but it kept on playing. Even when i clikt xx away the music was there. With taakbeheer i removed engine3 and after that it worked again. Grtzzzz Gerard....

Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Version 9m-1....wow!
|
on: October 10, 2007, 11:55:22 pm

Not just that it is non-stop playing now (finally!) but mostly for the perceived quality improvements over the previous versions... There was always some sort of layer on top of the sound, something making the sound less natural and more "dynamic" (edgy?) than the music actually was. Hardly to imaging if you did not listen to this latest version but now the apparent layer is completely gone opening the sound, showing the real details and a lot more of them too! Cymbals do not sound more "metallical" than they should, applause on live recordings do not hit the ears (even showing a bigger crowd than I was used before). Less noise and a lot more music shining through I would be amazed if you can find more improvements than what you have today. Bert I totally agree on that!!! Right now i really enjoy myself.. Sitting on the chear ( for two hours ) and don't believe what i am hearing... This really is fantastic..... Thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

But Gerard ... although I can't (and won't) prevent you from doing those things yourself, this is not exactly the idea; What *is* the idea, is that all happens in a controlled fashion. Example :
When someone is bothered by harddisk acces during playback (or thinks he/she is), I could shutdown the "service" which provides harddisk access. A next thing (but earlier) would be shutting down everything which urges for harddisk access, otherwise you'd get errors. And so on. Now, when the *audio* system needs the harddisk (end of track etc.) all has to be started up again, and the software can easily do that (at the appriopriate moment).
Note that this is just an example, and a not much realistic one. But it explains how far things could go, if done in a controlled fashion; You yourself never could shutdown the service that realizes harddisk access. You'd get errors all over the place. So, the "how far things could go" is the key here. By means of software control it could go way far ...
Ah ok.... Then i better wont do anything overhere... Thanxxx

Oh help ... is this about the next idea coming up ? Well. . . let's just say I have disabled many unecessary Windows services. Do you dare venture in to such territory? Hi Edward, I have a home build pc specially for playing music. So i will be very intrested in shutting down the things i dont need or use. Can you explain what and how to do that? Thanxxxx Gerard... One thing that is different than your pic in XXCPU01.png is that the box next to Music Root is Not next to Music Root in my setup, but down in the middle of the window.... What is that Music Root box for? Would you care to post a screen copy of that ? (the full window of XX please). I got that to... But the place of that wil change when you make the screen smaller or bigger. I don't know how to make a copy so i will leave that for someone else.. Gerard

Hello Peter, With the latest version i have problems with showing all my cd's. From the 500 cd's xx only shows the cd's beginning with the letter a, b, c,. Also it would be nice that you can show my collection from two hard drives. Now its only possible to ad one hard drive. Grtz Gerard... I Just count how many cd's are shown in the library and it are exactly 100 cd's.... Hoi Peter, Yes that was the trick.... Now all the cd's are there.... You where talking about in the explaining of this latest version that it take's al long time to load them in. This would be less of a problem if xx does this automaticly when starting up. Maybe this is less time consuming???? Grtz
