Title: 9Z3 Library button issue
Post by: boleary on December 14, 2010, 01:27:00 pm
Don't recall if this has been reported, but I can only get racks to play with Z3 by manualy loading them with the explorer button, which is okay cause I have to do that to manualy copy them to the Ramdisc drive. Anytime I click on the actual library button I get an "unhandled Exception" error. When I then hit "continue" nothing happens.

Also, assuming Z4 will copy files to the Ramdisc in a way that mimicks manually copying them, is there anyway this can be done for saved playlists, so that when a playlist is selected the files get properly copied? Sure hope so.  :)

Sorry to have to ask again but did I miss something about the library button in Z3? Deleting the config file doesn't help. I still get an unhandled exception error if I hit the library button in z3. Using the explorer button or saved playlists works fine. Thanks.

I am sorry ...  I must sort what what you can do, but have NO time for it at the moment. The running ball shows that it's under my attention.

But in the mean time, delete all those "temporary files" - may you be able to find them (look at dates).
Again, sorry.

Not a problem at all. Didn't know that's what the runnung ball meant. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything that was a simple fix. You, sir, take all the time you need. Its just damn exciting seeing you get the Phasure out the door to "customers" (perhaps even disciples ;) )with such committment to excellence.....all good things come to those who wait!

Allright ... (and thanks) ... You can try to delete these files (maybe some are hidden) :

- [XX]\Played.dat (not likely to be the cause)
- [XX]\LibraryData.txt (likely to be the cause)
- [XX]\[your Data folder]\!CurrentlyPlaying.PLXX (not likely)
- [XX]\[your Data folder]\Favorites.txt (could be)
- [XX]\[your Data folder]\!Played.PLXX (not likely)

And otherwise take care that your denoted "Music root" is correct (likely).

Let me know what did the trick. Uhm, if any. :)

Peter

Still having the same problem. Tried deleting all the files you suggested but couldn't find [XX]\LibraryData.txt . Deleting the others didn't help. Here's a picture of the error (the blue highlights in textboxes is a new issue also):

Ah, I better had seen this message right away ... Well, assuming it is still the same.

To me it seems clear that this folder \TemporaryData under your XX folder doesn't exist while it is expected to exist there (whetever you exactly do). So, creating it should solve the problem ?

But before you do (and the problem went away), can you tell me what it exactly is you when this occurs ? I have read the first post, but I wonder whether it's still actual, and I don't think I can see from it what you do. Only what you do not ... :)

Also please show me the Settings area for the "Data Locations" section.

Peter

Every time I hit the library button in the lower right hand corner I get this error. It began with 9z3 until the present. I'm also pretty sure it began around the time I started using ramdisc, but I'm not certain. Am off to work now so will apply your solution this evening. Thanks.

Here's the picture of the settings area. Drive E is an internal drive, not the OS drive, that has all the music files. I put the data file there when I was switching between OS systems, vista and w7,to  keep playlists consistent. I didn't have a problem with this initially. Now if I move the data file to the C drive I still get the same error.

Library button in the lower right hand corner ?!? there is no Library button there !

However ... I just deleted my TemporaryData folder, and I indeed get the error now, at clicking at some random lower right corner whatever button ... which is the button to clear temporary data - from that folder.

Ok, I must be able to solve that for the next version.

For now, just create that folder, and all will be right.

But with this, I also found a major other problem which I maybe never understood, and which was reported as solved, but as it appears now, not at all (but by accident for the user concerned);
When this folder is not there, but in XX Logging is switched On, this errors out under the hood for each call to the log file. And now it takes ages to pay something ! ...
The TemporaryData folder is created automatically allright, but on the switch of activating logging ...
... which won't happen when it's already On ... and which is the case at creating a new folder for XX at a new version, while the settings are restored from the older version.

While this would be true, the problem is different. I can't tell how or what yet, because each time to test I need to reboot from the development environment to the playback environment where this goes wrong. This seems similar to your RAMDisk story, but not sure yet. Point is : on the dev environment XX is on the C: drive, as is the OS, but in the playback environment XX still is on the C: drive, but the OS is on another.

Must be something :fishy:
