1036  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: WARNING : Degraded SQ from off 0.9n u/i 9.0p on: November 03, 2007, 08:14:52 pm

From various angles it comes to me that the SQ on versions 0.9n (but possibly from off 0.9o only) u/i 0.9p is degraded;
Soft crackles may emerge, depending on the soundcard used (and possible buffer settings in there).
This may start immediately or start after a few tracks playing.

Please revert to 0.9m-1 to be sure to have the good SQ again.

Thanks for everybody reporting this, while I myself was busy judging MP3 sound (which for me is without crackles, but here too others report them).

Edit :
But please note this is not sure; e.g. I myself can't copy this behaviour.

Peter

Peter,

This is a problem i have had for a long time and right now i have it much more. For a long time i thought this was a problem with the XP driver i am using. I was planning to tell you in a few day's but right now i am a little busy.
Indeed it apears after a few songs and than the whole song the music sounds crackling.
But when i press stop and push play again the problem is over. But only for a few songs. But it also can take a whole cd before it comes up.

I also thought it apears when my harddisk was busy with something else. But i am not sure anymore.

Right now i am testing if it is less when the q1 slider is not anymore at -4

Hey peter,

I like to say that than a cd with Wav and Mp3 are loaded in XX.

Which is not the case in your xx2/xx3 example. No times ending at .00 in there.

You are right at that moment the mp3 loading was above the other numbers. But when you say that you have those errors when listening  to .Wav,  than this conclusion is wrong.

VBR (Variable BitRate) files were *not* tested. If they don't work as they should, you will notice this by a wrong indication of the duration, which goes along with a too early stop of playing the file when the duration is indicated too short, or currently unknown anomalies when it is indicated too long.

This happends a lot.

What do you mean ?

With this i mean that during playing mp3 XX just stops playing..

I am sorry for the mixing up. Won't do it again. grazy Grin

Hello Peter,

First i like to say that it's great that the most importent ( For me) supports are added. And offcourse that it wont be long now to introduce 1.00  yahoo

You have explaint with the update 0.9p  blush2

But i like to show you some message's that came up. It's a little bit ( i think) like the Flac things that you allready know off.

The first one (XX1.png) I like to show you is that is how a Mp3 tracktime thing shows up. Different than from Flac is that all the songs ends with .00 (Or is that how a Mp3 is convert?

The Pic's (xx2.png and xx3.png) Will show you some errors that shows up often. The thing that is a little bit strange is that these errors sometime's also are shown when only .Wav is playing.'

I like to say that than a cd with Wav and Mp3 are loaded in XX.

I have never had such errors when only .Wav is loaded in.

Hoi Peter,

This cannot be about SQ !

What do you mean by this? Does this mean that the sound quality degrades a lot or just a bit? Or don't you know just yet...

1042  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Flac problems on: October 22, 2007, 11:32:50 pm
Gerard,

This is about extracting the length of the track from the data. So, e.g. the Sinead can just be converted, but the length data is in another place I don't (yet) anticipate upon. Thus, all would be okay when you'd just did not need the tracklength in advance. So it errors out on that only ...

As I said (similar) in the release note : genuin FLAC only for now. Happy

Gerard, thanks for the information. The thing on the timing (track length) would be normal behaviour when things go wrong as they do here.

Then, the Sinead O'Connor seems to be a FLAC which is encapsulated in an MP3 ... wacko Anyway it contains ID3 tagging.

The Dulfer I don't know yet. I will look at that later this week.

It might not be the best idea to let these downloads loose on XX. You won't know what you have, and my time for these analysis is kind of "priceless" at this moment. I mean, since all these weird formats aren't supported anyway ... sorry

Hoi Peter,

I understand when things go wrong that a message will came up. But when the message is pusht away then XX play's them without any problem. And to me it sounds ok.... But there i could be wrong...
I thought that Flac always be able to contain ID3 tagging..

But i will be patient and wait for what is comming......  Grin

1044  Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Easily rename all your cover art.... on: October 22, 2007, 07:45:38 pm
Hi There,

The best way to change al your cover art into folder.jpg is the way i describe here. I found out after i did it manually with every cd ( 500 cd's )  unhappy

Go to start en then to search. In there you can easily look for .jpg file's in your music collection. Then select them all, and change/rename all of them in the way you want it! (Folder.jpg)  Happy ( takes 2 min )

Also you can search for log file's you don't need and delete them ect ect....

Grtz Gerard....

Peter,

After a second time load in you see that the track time has changed. I did this 5 times in a row and it stay's this way....

EDIT: And one from KLF...
1046  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Flac problems on: October 22, 2007, 04:22:55 pm
Hello peter,

Here you can see what happens when i load a cd wich gave the message *Length error in track file*

Then all the track numbers gave the same length.

But actually there is really not one number who is really that long according to other players.

The strange thing is though that after the error XX starts to play the number. But with the next track everthing starts over again...

Btw: Most of my Flac have the same problem. But also a few who has not.

The problem with * Engine3 stopt working* I cannot see something strange. When i convert them into Wav XX does also after a few songs  gave the message that Engine3 stopt working. But not at the first song!
And so i see now The message Engine 3 does not start within the expected time is back again  Wink. But only with the converted cd...  Happy

Grtz
PS: It looks a bit strange but i tried to rename them in the hope that would make a difference...

1048  Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Re: Copying screen on: October 22, 2007, 04:01:24 pm

You could use the printscreen button (with ctrl, alt or shift I think, and each with a different result) and copy it into a Word document which you attach ("Additional options"). But it's awkward and Word will resize it.

I use SnagIt, which just does all you could ever want. But it's not free.

I think I heard others about other programs (free), but I forgot how and what ...

Ok i have got snagit instald how can i past this in here?
