Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Playlist issue

Hi Peter, with playlists, if I want to change the order of songs it is difficult. I can only move a song to the bottom of a list but nowhere else within the list. Adding a song to a list always places the song at the bottom which is expected, but moving a song to a different place within the list doesn't work unless its moved to the bottom. If this is something you would change I would appreciate it, but I am not in a hurry. Thanks.

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Host Process For Windows Services?????

One More Question (for the moment.....). When playing XX I sometimes get this message from windows: Host Process for Windows Services Has Stopped Working. Seems to me that less is more for music playback so I ignore it as long as xx keeps working, and it mostly does. Is this okay?

Not loading the tracks using WiFi. Tracks are played directly from laptop to dac via usb/spdif. If I just disconnect from the internet using the icon in the lower right taskbar I still get clicks. If I go into device manager and disable the wireless card, all clicks and pops disappear. Went to the dell site and there are no newer drivers for the card.

Well doubling the memory helped a great deal, but there were still a few occasional clicks and pops. A week ago I downloaded and ran the DPC Latency Checker. In a few minutes I was able to determine that the wireless card driver was the cause of the few remaining clicks and pops. Now I have to figure out a way to get a hardwire into the living room.......always something!

Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / 9x--4 v. 9x--6b
|
on: April 10, 2009, 01:07:33 pm
|
Is it my imagination or is the sound quality of "6b" significantly better (more dynamic) than "4"? "4" sounds great but compared to "6b" it is flat sounding, like the Q1 slider, set to 4, sounds more like it is set to 14 when compared to "6b". Hope what I just said makes sense......
Being a relatively new XXhighender I don't know much about other versions of the player but I sure hope the sound of 9x--6b stays around for a long time. Then again, if I'm imagining this difference, guess I'll have to head down to the basement for a tune up!

Thanks again, Peter. It does still seems strange though that none of the other WMP ripped albums that I've played have had this problem. Dylan's Tell Tale Signs was released last fall. Maybe there is something in the newer WMP rips that's different? Whatever it is I certainly look forward to the fix.

So glad to hear that the format switching will be solved in "7'. Been making playlists for a long time and they have both 16/44.1 and 24/96 traks completely mixed. Not sure what you are refering to with this: "Yes I did. There was even a comment "is this correct ?" next to it. Solved in the upcoming 0.9x-7." Yes you did what? BTW all hotkeys have been working for several days. A reboot fixed that problem.

I don't remember if I ripped it with EAC or WMP. Most of my music has been ripped with WMP, error correction ticked. I only discovered EAC several months ago. I'm going to rerip it with both and see what happens. Will let you know. Thanks Peter.

Not sure what you mean by: "And when you want, you may email me about the origine of this. Maybe it helps ...". In my first post in this thread i described how this occurred. Are you looking for something else?
Whats really wierd is that the file will play in 9x-4.

Well, got home, exclusive check boxes were correct and XX 9x--6b worked fine, but I did not try the Dylan file. After and hour of trouble free listening I turned 6b off and turned on 9x--4. I played the troublesome Dylan, it played without any errors. Turned off "4" and went back to "6b", played the Dylan and got the "engine 3 stopped working error." Something in that file certainly bothers 6b. What next?
Rebooted and all is well as long as I don't play the Dylan.....at times you must feel like you are herding cats!
