I am having a lot of fun with
A:W-G, B:W-G

Good fresh highs. Nice deep bass. And ... foot-tapping factor is present in well fashion.
This one is also nicely forceful.

That makes me curious;
Prepared it from Tidal for a listen tonight.

Thank you, Kenny.

Thank you very much for sharing this, Robert.

With the Lush^3 I am still on a similar "minimalistic" path, which for the Lush^2 would come down to :

A:W-R, B:W-R.

I have to say I like no jumpers and went back to this

In order to avoid misunderstanding, with that you mean "no wires at all connected".
The jumpers are the little black pieces (in my terminology).
N.b.: In the A:, B: situation, one could also attest that the 5-pin connector(s) are not even there.

Peter

Re: PC electrical isolation from DAC

Keep in mind that back in those days we had no form of galvanic isolation in the NOS1 (not in i2s and not in USB). This seems to make the result "worse" (see the posts behind the link).

That was also in the era that we could not perceive differences in USB cables (see Mani's post in there). This means that all round it (like the DAC, our speakers, general approaches, XXHighEnd, Operating System) improved so much, that today we here differences in "everything" - USB cables ahead (haha).

Now have a listen with a Lush 3 cable. Takes it to a 7 Sound Quality.

Haha, great.

Hi Arvind,

For Ethernet I can not tell.
For USB I can, as this was tried a long time ago and it sounded like sh*t. I tried it, and Nick tried it.

Generally, "glass" won't sound because of the extra processing required to convert from and to electrical. This processing adds more noise than it does good.

Maybe if you try today, things are different.

Personally I would only trust "ears" on this forum. You know how (and some time also who) we are ...

Best regards,
Peter

Hi there Robert,

(this is about this configuration of the Lush^3 :Re: Lush^3).

No, I don't think you will find much resemblance with the Lush^3, in your Lush^2 with this confuguration.

The Lush^3 is too differently sounding from the Lush^2 and the reason are the shields (or the extra shield). Thus, even when not connected at all, they "shield", although technically (electrically) this won't be something that a real EE will admit. For example, if I'd change the config you talk about
A:, B:
into
A:W&Y, B:
there is still no shield connected as such, BUT two shiels connect to each other (and that on one side only). This drastically changes the sound. You could try similar with your Lush^2, but I can't predict the result.

Best regards,
Peter

A:, B:
(nothing connected)
Btw, this is not necessarily a "best" configuration, but I personally like it very much as it shows the character of the Blumenhofer Concert X speaker (which I like for its special sound).
It comes down to a not so enormously extending highs, and as I said elsewhere, the general sound of cymbals go in the direction of hitting a closed hi-hat (or maybe just-not closed). This, while the great detail remains.

I think this is a configuration one likes, or not. I'll add to this that this should be a configuration with a character, hence which is not really neutral (to my ears).

251  Ultimate Audio Playback / Cables (Community induced) / Re: ET^3 network cable on: November 18, 2020, 05:20:12 pm

Hi there Arvind,

As you may recall (?) connecting the Audio PC to the switch is not a good idea for SQ at all (Audio PC should directly connect to Music Server PC). So there it actually starts.

Next, all I can really tell that the happy few who own *and* an ET^2 *and an ET^3 like the ET^3 for the better. But point here is : How is it used. And this is so different for everybody.

I use an ET^2 between the Mach III and the Music Server PC. It helps SQ greatly (as usual it beats me why). I never granted myself an ET^3, so about the difference in that place I can not tell.
I have a normal 1$ cable between the Music Server PC and the switch, because I don't think it can matter. Bbbut ... there ever back was a time that I did not believe in $$$ USB cables as well. And look what came from that.

So all I can give you for an honest answer is that the ET^ surely helps between Audio PC and Music Server PC. That's all.
I tend to add that the ET^3 should sound better again, because it plainly *is* better (more shielding again and otherwise more configuration possibilities.

Hopefully this helps you a little ?
Kind regards,
Peter

Kenny, man, what a nice story that is ! I really loved reading it.
Btw, you should allow yourself to paste literally what you wrote to me by email. As great and such a good laugh !

It is like Robert told - there are more above 60 in here. Actually I'd say that by now we are *all* above 60, apart from one or two perhaps.  Old

Maybe it deserves extra praise that you not only went for the Lush^3 instead of new speakers, but two months earlier you also went for the Lush^2.
So Kenny, thank you for the great trust.

Kind regards,
Peter
