Then, the real problem itīs not only to make the final W10 to sound as good as the v10074, the problem also will be if we can or can not to stop the automatic OS updates. If we canīt stop the updates weīll have a permanent instability for what is important to us: the XXHE sound quality.
Hi Juan, within the W10 pro (build 10240) you can stop/avoid any update. (for an audio PC not connected to the internet) Joachim Hi Joachim, You are right As long as we stay away from internet with our music PC, we should be protected from these automatic updates Regards, Alain Hi Alain, we can stop the updates of W10 when connected to the internet too. (but that's not wise due to possible malware etc.) Joachim

I disabled the fiberfill (=hiberfill, damn spelling corrector) and that reduced the boot to 35 seconds.
Hi Coen, since W10 I'm using a SSD, boot time is 8 sec, laptop runs cooler, sound is great. XXH on a RAM disc. What are your present Q settings? Thanx Joachim

Hi Joachim,
Yes. But see the page I linked too - that is again not an official version and it will expire as well (but in 2016).
Thank you ... Peter
Hi Peter, the link I gave is about build 10532, and that is an update for build 10240. Hope this build 10532 is better than .... . Joachim

Hi Coen,
a couple of weeks ago I tried W10-10074 and installed the driver 1.03 and faced the same problem ( sample rate moving along all rates in a loop and never stops). The installation of 1.04 failed on that build.
With build 10240 the driver 1.04 installation suceeded and is stable as a rock.

And the "everybody" who installs the driver, is almost everybody without knowing why. Don't ask me the why. Ha, ha, somebody wrote on August 18, 2015, 10:40:55 am (the 1.04 driver is a tweak to begin with) ***and we like TWEAKS to squeeze ....... .*** Joachim

Well ...
Joachim, now *that* looks confusing !! So if it really works like that, then no wonder. However :
Although it is difficult for me to check at this moment, I don't think I made it like that. There's a "refresh" procedure for the status - maybe by means of the general Refresh button, possibly by means of clicking the button one time while it says "refresh" at first.
So ?
Peter
Hi, 1) start XXH,no note "Drivers need not be signed" is shown, and button shows "Refresh" 2) press "Refresh" 3) and note "Drivers need not be signed" appears 4) and then reboot 5) start XXH again 6) no note "Drivers need not be signed" is shown but button shows "Change" 7) press "Change" and note "Drivers need not be signed" appears again 8 ) install driver 1.04 (leaving XXH in the background without touching anything in there.) with this sequence I got 1.04 installed. Joachim P.S. Sometimes we do have to perform strange steps to outwit obstacles with reluctant software/hardware combinations

After a reboot what will be the status of Driver signing 'button' ?
Hi, after the reboot in XXH the note "Drivers need not be signed" was not shown, the button on the right side shows "Change", press this button and the note "Drivers need not be signed" appears and then you shall start the driver installation without touching anything in XXH. In my case the installation works with this procedure. You will see a note such like "no certified driver" during the installation, but you go on ..... . Joachim
