31  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Crack detect stops album since Lush^2 on: October 08, 2018, 09:25:34 am
Hi Peter,

Yes, that's the correct album.

Uhhh, mmm, the same thing also happens when I switch back to the standard Lush cable.  scratching

Funny thing is it never happend before with this album, so it might be caused by a changed setting in XXHighEnd?

Or?

Regards,
Stanley
32  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Crack detect stops album since Lush^2 on: October 07, 2018, 09:08:37 pm
Hi Peter,

Crack detect stops playback during track 3 of the album Hotel Terminus (what’s in a name  wacko) by Erik Bosgraaf.

Until now this is the only album that is showing this behavior.

This never happened before and started since using the Lush^2.

I tried both versions of the album I have (one ripped and one downloaded).

Does this make sense?

Regards,
Stanley

33  Ultimate Audio Playback / Cables (Community induced) / Re: The greatest invention in/for Audio (Lush^2) on: October 03, 2018, 08:58:49 pm
I received my Lush^2 almost a week ago and let in play for about 10 hours before I started listening.

I copied the current “status quo” A: B-W-Y-R  / B: B-W-R for a start and try some other configurations when I’m in the mood for it, but hearing how it sounds now, I’m in no hurry.

It’s hard to avoid clichés to describe the sound. The first thing I noticed was a kind of “silence” in the background, which results in hearing everything better across the whole spectrum. And that results in a more natural and convincing sound. Not only with good quality recordings, but also average recordings from the seventies a much more enjoyable now.

It has a kind of addictive quality now.

And no Mach II, III or whatever here, just a simple DIY Audio PC (see sig).

Peter:  thankyou

I stop now, music calling.

Regards,
Stanley

I have the music files on a Windows pc, we call the Musicserverpc.

On that computer you can use Explorer to see the files and delete the Mac files.

Maybe it will be necessary to enable Explorer to see Hidden Files by ticking the box for that in the View mode of Explorer.
35  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Ripping problem on: September 16, 2018, 09:35:20 am
I think these files are files the Mac produces and become visible on a Windows machine.

These files are not from dBPoweramp.

You can just delete them on the AudioPC.

36  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: Vibration! on: May 12, 2018, 11:10:38 am
Hi Anthony,

Thank you for your report. Very impressive piece of work.

Not a tweak for the average NOS-1 owner  scratching but I can imagine the impact it must have on SQ.

Another topic for a future thread maybe, but I'm wondering what influence LED lighting (drivers and converters) and solar panels will have on our SQ.

Cheers,
Stanley

37  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.09 sound quality on: May 07, 2018, 01:09:22 pm
A while back I made some fancy vibration isolation stuff for the NOS1a G3 and it cleaned up the mids and highs tremendously without changing any software settings.  The change of sound was not subtle and I had to get rid of my cheap-arse speaker cable for something a bit more suitable to tame the presentation...which worked.  Anyway, these new settings combined with my anti-vibration stuff are just fabulous.

Hi Anthony,

Did you ever found the time to finish your anti-vibration project and/or reported about this?

Kind regards,
Stanley
38  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.10 sound quality on: March 25, 2018, 05:20:01 pm
I now updated my signature. The items surrounded by * are the changed ones since last time.
Among them the Balanced Load of 42 which I just found like that minutes ago and I must be using that for many weeks by now, although I can't really remember the merits of it. It is so anyway and I like the sound very much (in consistency with the other settings), so I let it be.

Peter

Hi Peter,

When I set the Balanced Load (just trying settings), the result is (-). All other settings can be set, except "42".

I left it at at "43" and that's OK, but I'm curious why "42" can't be set.

Stanley
39  Ultimate Audio Playback / Interesting Music / Testmaterial / Re: Best / Interesting Albums of 2017 on: January 17, 2018, 04:24:11 pm
Here is my modest list of “new” or reissued albums, that may be old to you.

- Organic Three Plus - Clustered Injuries. Great album of Dutch group with crowdfunded album.
- Tim Berne’s Snakeoil - You’ve been watching me.
- Tim Berne’s Snakeoil - Shadow man.
Both albums are not easy listening, but very rewarding when you take the trouble of getting to know the music.
- Vijay Ayer Sextet - Far from over. See Paul above, I agree!
- Jan Bang - And Poppies from Kandahar. Cool music.
- Jethro Tull - A Passion Play. This is the Steven Wilson 2013 remixed and remastered version of my favorite Tull Album. Sounds different compared to the original mix. Also contains the first attempt to record this album, but which was not released initially, but is very interesting.
- Andy Sheppard – Surrounded by Sea.

More then enough to digest.

40  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.09 sound quality on: November 30, 2017, 10:07:55 am
Last night I tried SFS settings between 0 and 20.
<6: the sound is detailed, but also a bit "detached".
>14: it becomes too "mushy".
So I settled for SFS=10 and that seems balanced (in my system, for now and with the music I played).

A bit more finetuning:
I now have my SFS=8.80
and the second highest High Filter

Hi Stanley,

that's funny. You and me posted quite the same in the same minute independently. I read your post after I had posted mine.

You: SFS=10
Me: SFS=8, SFS=12

This can't be accidentally.

Kind regards
Richard

I hope it is not accidentally, Richard
It's time to enjoy music in stead of comparing settings  sounds good !

Kind Regards,
Stanley

Yes Peter, it is exactly that.

Probably set by accident via my iPad when changing some settings.

Thank you!

44  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / No sound from XXHE/NOS1 on: November 25, 2017, 12:57:47 am
Hi Peter,

This evening after playing some albums XXHE/NOS1 stopped working after I loaded a next album.

First, I got a message with a warning about “STATIC” and “unknown DAC” or something like it (can’t remember the exact message).
And an advice to delete a “24xxxxx.tst” file to get rid of these messages, which I did after booting to “Base W10-14393.0.

But still no sound. Also, the XXOSK doesn’t work.

Next, I reinstalled XXHE, but that didn’t help. Same situation.

I also turned the NOS1 off and on again and checked the dc-offset: OK.

Now I don’t have a clue what to do  Cry

Regards,
Stanley

45  Ultimate Audio Playback / Music Storage and convenient playback / Re: How to save and open a playlist on: November 10, 2017, 03:00:37 pm
Ahhhhhh, thank you Brian.

The box in the righthand pane was hidden on my iPad.

I have to shrink the left pane to make the box in the righthand pane visible.

Clear now.
