Title: Bugs of 0.9z
Post by: ivo on May 29, 2010, 11:11:22 pm
Hi all,

Bug#1: no log directory under XX folder when 'log activities' is selected.
Bug#2: I cannot get hotkeys working under Win7. Env variable is there, shortcut is on desktop, it launches the Autohotkey.exe, but no reaction from XX. I cannot bring it on. Did the same as in Vista and there it was working.

The sound is THE SOUND, meaning it sounds AWESOME.

Thanks,
Ivo

I also have problem with hotkey in win7.
alt-x seems to launch xxhighend ok, alt-s seems to work.
However I can't get alt-t to work to bring the screen back up.

I am still a bit confused about unattend mode since I only tried it for the
first time last night. I assume that once I am in unattend mode,
I suppose to be able to use alt-t to bring the screen backup so
I can add more tracks or make other adjustment. Right now
one I hit play, I can't do anything except stop, play, next track etc until everything is the playlist
is completed then the screen return automatically.

Also where can I select attend/unattend mode. Now that I installed autohotkey, it seems that
the program is automatically in unattended mode all the time?

Alt-T is a toggle command, ie. it flips the active/inactive state, and it's my understanding it's not meant to take you back to the GUI when in unattended play. That is the purpose of Alt-X.

The icon for UNattended/attended mode is directly beneath the PLAY button. By using Alt-T you should see the red indicator light on left of icon switch from red (active) to blue (inactive)

Cheers,

Russ

When you start AutoHotkey.exe, does the message point to the same folder your current XX is in ? Notice that the icon you start XX itself with should point to the exact same.

And I think you will know it, but Alt-X is the easiest way to check if its working. If it brings up XX (and from the correct version), it works.

I got alt-x to work now to bring the screen back up. One thing that I notice,
I usually have 4x oversampling arc prediction selected. In unattended mode,
when I press alt-x screen comes back up with 4x oversampling but arc prediction is off.

Peter, thanks for your patience and explaination. I think I slowly am getting
things to work now, just a little clink here and there :)

Ok, good !
The Arc Prediction switching off can (for now) be avoided by also activating Peak Extension. Then it stays.

Hi Peter,

Some more bugs in 0.9z, thought i would bring it to your notice.
1) When clicking on "set" in Normalised Volume I am getting a window popping up which says "arithmetic operation resulting in an overflow". Can't get the normalise volume to set ref Album.
2) Earlier versions had possibility of clearing & loading the playlist, how does one do this now?

Hi Arvind. The clear and load playlist buttons are the two arrow buttons on the right side of the play/stop button area. The one pointing up clears the list, the one pointing down loads the list. To see the list click on the musical note at the top left of the center scren. I'd do a screen shot but am not at home right now.

I saw this myself, and ended up (somehow) in a stage I can't use the Normalized Volume anymore, at all. I don't know what one has to do to get into this stage ...
For me the only solution is not to use the Normalized Volume (hence deactivate the button for it).

Will be solved !

Peter

In trying to get my son's computer (AMD, 2GB memory, Realtek sound on MSI motherboard) I had to clear old Config file to get it going after upgrade to 0.9Z.
I still have a problem with WPChange notices for each new file played, so may have to go through clear old COnfig file once more.
However, once running I tried different settings for KS sound quality - Adaptive gave good sound with large buffer (2048) and Q1=1.
I then tried Special mode, but had intermittent clicks and went back to play with Adaptive 2048 buffer setting.
To my surprise, I could this time lower the buffer to 384, and still get good sound, which was not possible before switch to play in Special mode.
However, it was not until later I noticed that by trying out Special mode, Q1 had been set to 14 by Specail mode, and remained at Q1=14 even after I returned to Adaptive mode.
In other words, in Adpative mode buffer=384 was obtained in combination with Q1=14.
Question: Is this generic, or only happening to me. I thought Q1 would return to its previous value when I returned to play in Adpative mode, or does this require that I save the Adpative mode settings somehow and return to this preset if I want to specifiically associate Adaptive mode with Q1=1.

Hi Bjorn,

No, the Q1 value is not saved per Mode setting. And I agree it is quite confusing.
Maybe the selection of the KS Mode must be on the same panel as the Q1 sliders ... eh knobs. Then you can at least see that it changes.

Hmm ...

Arvind,

The Normalized Volume works again in 0.9zb. But, I found that you can not use a FLAC album as the Reference Album. Then things stall after you use the Set button. This is some deep down quirk of something, and I couldn't solve it right away.

0.9zb is here : http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1242.0 as the additional zip at the bottom.

Hi Peter,
I've noticed in the library area (midle pane) of 09z that some artworks are not shown correctly. The directory of the artist contains a folder.jpg. In version 09y it works ok. What caused this problem?

Johan,

I think this an old bug, about the dots in the filename.
Just rename folder to "George Russell - New York, NY"

It is true that I never solved that (yea, a first part, but this turned out long ago not to be enough). But, I don't see how it worked (for your example, Johan) in the old version, while now it does not.

I merely dedicate this to something else I can't grab yet. This is about quite some more things around the pictures which seem to behave differently. You may not notice it immediately, by I do.

I will try to sort it out !

I haven't stopped playback nor quit app normally before rebooting my PC and that's what happened after the restart. I am welcomed with these "pleasent" messages. What now? I can't start XXHE, so I can't listen to music ;/ Tried fresh installations (z, za, zb) - nothing changes. Installing elsewhere doesn't help plus I get a "demo version" popup before errors appear.

I'd appreciate your help asap Peter,

Cheers,
Marcin

I much prefered the old GUI, which was according to "form follows function", with large buttons with text, so you knew which to push. With the new GUI the buttons are so small, that I strugle to find them at all...

With the new GUI there is a lot of unused space, still the buttons are small, and still you have use sub menues (like settings area).

(I am using a standard Thinkpad as remote desktop controle).

Apart from that I LOVE the sound. Will check out some more settings before I reach a verdict.

Marcin,

I think this is about removing a misbehaving XML user.config file, see:
http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=709.0

Dont forget to put the new xx install in the same folder as your first install of xx 0.9z version
Because registry entries are made with this new version, see the quote from the release notes:

Quote
• Kind of important : While so far we could manage without really installing anything (Registry stuff), now it takes two OCX files to be registered.
Two subsequent messages at the first startup of 0.9z will tell you so. Notice they can be unregistered manually only.
When you want to do that (hence get rid of XXHighEnd in the first place) do this, and to it *before* you throw out your XX folder :

- Open a command window (cmd.exe from the Startbutton - Run). Then go to your XX folder (CD \yourXXFolder) and in there, type these two lines :
   regsvr32/u isanaloglibrary.ocx
   regsvr32/u isdigitallibrary.ocx

Both commands should be followed by a message that the Unregistring has succeeded.

Then do a fresh install of xx 0.9z, followed by 0,9zb
Hope this helps you a bit,

Roy

Johan, please check whether this is solved in 0.9z-2. If all is right it is ... And let me know by the time 0.9z-2 is there.
Notice that I am not sure it is your exact problem I solved, because your reference to 0.9y implies a time period of 10 months ...

Peter
