Title: 0.9z8-e Error messages
Post by: Diede on January 12, 2013, 01:34:57 pm
Hello Peter,

I've installed 0.9z8-e on my audio PC and everything works and sounds great!

Today I tried installing it on my desktop, and i ran into different error messages I can't seem to resolve even after re-installing.

When I press the S button to change some settings, XXHE goes into 'not responding' and I get the following error: "Error on obtaining GUID: Object reference not sent to an instance of an object."

I'm also unable to reboot in MinOS, I get the following messages:
"Error during Reboot: Object reference not sent to an instance of an object."
and
"We're sorry, but your reboot into minimised OS cannot continue. You may want to contact Phasure about this."

Please advice,
Diederik

Diederik,

I am thinking about what can cause it. That's why no response all the time ...

Peter

I can think of one thing now : no proper rights. So, is your UAC setting OK ? (all the way down)

This was my first idea also, so I already checked this and all is fine, lever all the way down.

BTW, something else happens which surely must be related. When I open XXHE the picture I have on my desktop background goes from 'Fill' to the original size???

I don't get it.

You are not running XXHighEnd "as Administrator" ?
(you should NOT do this)

I just manually rebooted my PC, and all of the sudden I'm in Minimised OS.
XXHE opened automatically, and I got the following message:
Check OS State: Something went wrong with the OS state!
The Minimise OS button as you see it now reflects the current propoer state.

The other problems remain however.

I am running as administrator Peter.

That may not be what I meant. You can "be" an administrator and you can runs programs by means of the selection 'Run as Administrator" (this is also a property to the program which you can set). This "Run as" should not be done (setting the property not either).

That will be because of an unexpected (inconsistent) situation happened.

But when you go to the Settings Area you receive those errors, right ?

Let me rephrase, my user account has administator rights, and the UAC is at never notify.

"Error on obtaining GUID: Object reference not sent to an instance of an object."

Can you please be more precise about the part before the ":" ?
There should be a number in there as well ...

Numerous emails later, the problem was tracked down to be caused by Kasperski Antivirus.

But no Antivirus is to be used for good SQ anyway, if it will work in Minimized OS and Unattended at all.

For those who want to play music on normal "work PC's" and suffer from a similar problem with 0.9-z8 versions, here is a workaround for this : For those with XTweaks erroring out (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=2429.0).
