Title: No XP support yet with 0.9y-6
Post by: Robin Hood on February 21, 2010, 02:12:51 am
No success with 0.9y-6 and XP.  I get an Initialization error that states "Proper Initialization FAILED, so further errors WILL occur.

0.9y-6 will not allow me to select an output device.  I get an unhandled exception that occurs in XXHighEnd 0.9y-6.  However under the Analysis tab several devices are listed from which to choose.

I am sorry for your problems !

Ok, in order to avoid the error at startup, go here : How to delete a misbehaving ConfigFile (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=709.0). Let me know if you can't deal with this.

If this is solved, please describe the problem again, because it may be different - or even gone !

Peter

I deleted some and then all of the files in the Phasure directories to see if that would solve my problem, however still no luck.  I assume you have your hands full with trying to address any issues with the new release of 0.9y-6 under Vista and Win7.  Perhaps XP will always be a lesser or forgotten OS for XXHE.  I will give it a rest for now and try again on a clean XP computer when my Juli@ card arrives in a few weeks.  In the meantime I will send you a separate email since I don't seem to be able to undemo XXHE under XP and perhaps that is limiting my abilities to get things working.

Of course not. If that were so I wouldn't have spent all this time on Kernel Streaming (which I created for one reason only : XP).

If you are going to setup a clean PC that would be perfect, because I'm sure something is wrong. Another indication for that is your corrupted config file, which by itself can be - or will have been caused by a sudden reboot. So if you sit back and think, you may well come to the conclusion that indeed your PC reboots regularly, and maybe something indeed is very wrong with it.

The demo mode shouldn't matter much, but of course you must be able to undemo it. I'll send you a PM about this.

FYI ...

Got around to putting 0.9y-6 on my study PC that runs WinXP (onboard M/B sound via SP/DIF to external receiver) , and got it all running fine using KS Special Mode after setting heaps of samples.

Device Buffer Size needed setting to 2048 , and Q1 slider at 30. With those settings I can run both DAP or QAP without glitches.

Listening to some Eric Bibb "Painting Signs" as I type this. :veryhappy:

Cheers,

Russ
