Title: I almost had a heart attack
Post by: Suteetat on May 28, 2010, 05:00:45 am
Love the new GUI but I could not find a way to do continuous play or loop play yet. Is this an option?
Anyhow, as I still am burning in my new DAC so last night I left my computer on with CMediaplayer
playing continously. This morning, without thinking, I started XXHighend while CMediaplayer was still
running which resulted in blue screen of death and automatic shutdown.
After that, my Lynx card would not work even when I removed and reinstall the driver.
In the end, I had to remove the Lynx card and reinserted it and then reinstall the driver for it to work again.
I thought I broke my Lynx card  :(  So big lesson, XXHighend and Cmediaplayer don't mix!

Phew, I guess it very much depends on the driver how it is detected that it is busy or not. But also, of course, this is related to the "half support" of Kernel Streaming by Microsoft. Anyway, glad all works again.

Only A-B looping for one track currently works. But what is the problem with loading 10 albums (or 100, or 1000) ?

One problem with loading 10 or 100 albums is that I still get
"engine 3 or engine 4 did not start in time" message once in a while
and XXHighend would stop. I think 0.9z is better in this respect than
older version but the problem is still there. I tried leaving 0.9z running
overnight and it worked through Das Rheingold and  almost all of Meistersinger
before it stopped (May be 0.9z did not like Wagner :)  ).
So it seems that CMediaplayer is a bit more stable at this moment when I
want to keep things running overnight or all day long for burning in purpose.

I think this is caused by Engine#4 which still isn't as stable as Engine#3 for attended playback. It is also tough to work on, and even more tough to test and find what happens, already because I don't want to use it at listening.

Anyway, you are correct in your findings ...

PS: Don't try Engine#3 for 0.9z, because it doesn't work at all.

Never been available. But i really want this. I sometimes like to listen to the same album 4 or 5 times in a row.
Please, peter add a "repeat playlist" (that works ;) ).
