Title: XXHE 0.9z stops playing and scips tracks
Post by: Flecko on May 31, 2010, 02:50:32 pm
There are errors that occurs from time to time. It also has happend with the versions before.
1. A window appears with the message "engine 4 has not started in the expected time" - The music play still but if you close the window or press ok playback stops.
2. Playback stops after a track has ended. The new track will not be loaded.
3. While a track is playing, XXHE skips to the next or a random track.
4. While a track is playing, XXHE stops playing but the time slider still moves on.
(BTW:Anyone else has these problems?)

If I listen alone, this is not a big deal but sometimes I make a music evening with friends. Everyone makes a set of 30min and we listen to eachothers music. It is a lot of work to arrange such a set and it would be very annoying if this erros will occur in the next session. I alway used a CDP but now I want to do it with XXHE but therefor it has to be stable.

Thanks
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

I know of these problems, which don't happen to everyone and it is settings related, somehow. But think of when a next track won't start playing, the PC is just too late with things. This by itself is because of the playback thread consumes too many resources compared to what's needed for loading the next track. You could try to play with priorities and/or Processor Core Schemes to make it better.
In the end it is for me to solve, but at this moment it is as it is !

But, when you play Unattendedly, for sure this problem is not there !!

It has something to do with Playerpriority and Q1 setting. The smaler Q1, the more often the track stops without "reason". I used at first playerprio "slow" and threadprio "realtime". then I changed playerprio to "normal". I think there was no change. I now use "nothing" and it could be better but I still have to use it some time to be sure.

If you use "Nothing" be sure to reboot after you set that. So, "Nothing" changes nothing indeed, but first the base must be normal. A reboot does that.
